Nothing says “I love you” like a fabulous, steaming cup of coffee on a crisp autumn morning, or cool spring morning, or summer, or… well, you get the idea.  Coffee makes the
world go round, and a good cup of coffee certainly makes my day!

As you know, my bucket list includes a visit to a ‘Hello
Kitty’-themed cafe in Hong Kong, but the good strong liquor always makes me think of Seattle. Why? Because this is where it all started! The coffee culture itself may come from South America, but
the concept of modern coffee houses was born in this Pacific Northwest city.  So, if you visit Seattle, here are some must-visit coffee places…

Seattle Coffee Works – Pike Place Market

What’s your speed?  If you’re on the fast track, pick up a press pot brew at the Express Bar, check in for a business meeting and let light pastries melt in your
mouth.  Prefer life in the slow lane?  Then settle down at the Slow Bar and explore your host’s passion for coffee and deepen your sense of caffeinated discovery - Ethiopian?
Guatemalan? Costa Rican?  French pressed or pour over?  Take the time, settle in, and journey the world without leaving your seat.  This is coffee paradise, and certainly a
must-have stop while touring Pike Place Market.

Well, while in the area, you might one to add another landmark on the list: the original Starbucks. The drink you will get there is just the regular Starbucks coffee, but you can
see the place where the culture of modern coffee houses was born.

Kaladi Brothers Coffee

Think rustic, think industrial, think vaulted ceilings, vintage decor and a coffeehouse which embraces community as much as it does spectacular coffee.  Come for the caffeine, stay for the
friendliness, atmosphere and charm.

Macrina Bakery

Enriching the taste buds and warming the heart go hand in hand at Macrina, located in Belltown, SODO and McGraw.  A crackerjack coffee house and exquisite bakery, all stock is locally
sourced and all syrups are home made - from scratch, from local ingredients.  Grab a vanilla latte and an Olivetti dough slider with sliced heirloom tomatoes, Cambozola, and avocado… sounds
like heaven?  It truly is.

Street Bean Espresso – Belltown

Combining a passion for great coffee with a commitment to helping young people, this is one fantastic place to catch up with friends, enjoy the fruits of the baristas’ labours, and be a part of a
vibrant community.  Truly amazing coffee, this is one multi-roaster coffee shop which has to be on your I Love Seattle Coffee list.

Caffe Vita – Capitol Hill

Local ingredients, home-roasted beans, a monthly Brewing School to make you a better brewer, at Caffe Vita you’re part of the story, part of the process.  See, touch, and taste the beans
you’re buying.  Grab a Kyoto cold brew, hearty PacNor, frothy latte and some Gen X ambience then grab a bag of beans to take home.  Definitely a must for coffee aficionados.

Have we whetted your taste buds?  There’s a reason Seattle is
considered the coffeehouse capital, and these five are just a taste of what’s on offer.  So get out there, breathe in the rich aromas permeating the city and find your favorite coffee home.
