Our photographers have been out there pounding the streets in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Perth to get the latest authentic street style looks in the country.  Here’s our summary of  the latest trends as we’re seeing them this week on the street.

From black mesh to uneven hems and floral leathers, we’re still seeing plenty of 80s punk around at the mo. For men things are looking a bit more preppy, but with a fresh, modern edge, while overseas bigger is better.

Current Trends

#blackfishnet

We’ve been noticing the fishnet trend for weeks now. But while we’re still loving the peeping-out-from-behind-ripped-jeans look, we’re now also wearing it up top, showing off our bras punk style. P.S. It’s got to be black.

#thesidesplit

A red carpet favourite, the side split long hem dress has currently gone street – we’re even seeing this slash on the mini. Exposing our legs in an elegant and sexy fashion. Check. Keeping it casual by pairing it with flats. Check.

#floraleverything

Floral fever continues. We’re still ‘papping’ it everywhere in all its shapes and forms from big and bold to pretty and intricate. We’re even now embracing it on bomber and leather jackets in line with the overseas look.

#unevenhems

Last week we noticed hemlines had dropped, now the trend has metamorphosed. Playing to the current craving for fun detail, our edges have gone messy and asymmetrical, with short skirts sitting behind long sheer overlays.

#statementdangle

Forget the conservative stud. When it comes to Aussie lobe fashion, statement drop earrings are the go at the mo. From vibrant, tasseled creations to asymmetric gold or silver designs, it’s all good as long as it hangs.

#manrollups

If it’s not rolled up, it’s not worth wearing. Well, when it comes to men’s pants and shirts at least. It’s a trend we’ve noted for weeks, and it now looks like even the short sleeve isn’t safe from the smart/casual edge fold.

#moccasinsonmen

Historically worn by indigenous native Americans, today the stitch-detailed moccasin is making a comeback on our city streets. Favoured in brown leather and paired with no socks, it’s comfy, it’s stylish and it just works. Favoured by men, we also spotted suede blue moccasin’s on female feet last week!

INTERNATIONAL TRENDS

#oversizedandoverflowing

If there’s one thing our international eyes are telling us this week it’s that apparel has just gone oversized. From jackets and jumpers to pants and dresses, the child in adult clothing look is in and it’s fabulous. Check out more looks in our international gallery.

As we head further into Autumn, we’re expecting to see changing trends in the next few weeks. Perth’s warmer weather should see summer trends extending further into the autumn months, while Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney should start seeing newer colder clime trends.  VAMFF runways (Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival) will also have an effect on Melbourne Street trends. We’ll know soon enough.

Until next week Revolutionaries…❤️
