New York Cardiovascular Associates is launching a new public health campaign about the risk factors for vein disease. The New York City health center says that a person’s risk of vein disease can increase due to lifestyle choices, making education a crucial step in working to reduce the occurrence of vascular issues.

“Age, heredity, and lifestyle choices all have an impact on a person’s risk of vein disease,” explains a center representative. “We encourage patients to maintain a healthy weight and follow a regular exercise regimen to reduce their risk of vein problems.”

The New York City based vein center hopes to encourage the public to take steps to reduce their risk of vein disease, starting with lifestyle changes. This new campaign focuses on providing actionable information that will help the public understand what affects the risk of vein disease and what they can do to lower their risk.

Information on vein disease risk factors will be made available by the center throughout the month of July. They will be using social media to reach out to the public on this topic. Interested readers can learn more on the center’s Facebook and Twitter pages.

Varicose Vein Treatment Options

Varicose veins and spider veins are extremely common in men and women. While spider veins are very small, reddish veins on the surface of the skin, varicose veins are much larger, bulging, tangled veins that may appear bluish in color. Men and women suffer from varicose veins, although women are much more likely to have them.

Today, patients have access to a number of effective varicose vein treatment options. Advancements in technology and medicine have led to the development of effective, minimally invasive treatments that produce optimal results with few side effects or downtime. These treatments include sclerotherapy, radio frequency ablation, phlebectomy, and endovenous laser ablation.
