Vice President of Events
Overview: The VP Events is responsible for overseeing and organizing all of the CMNSU’s events. They must establish a yearlong plan for events and activities within the CMNSU (Including, but not limited to workshops, FROSH, Careers in Communication). They must oversee major events such as Careers in Communication, and provide support to smaller events that are headed by Event Coordinators. The VP Events is also in charge of managing the events team, including any coordinators, directors and organizing committees. The VP Events is directly responsible for anything CMNSU events related.
Responsibilities
Oversee all of CMNSU’s events – planning, executing and conducting post-event analysis
Ensure event reports and documentation are completed in a timely manner
Keep CMNS Co-op Coordinators and Faculty members up to date with events
Assist the VP Admin in hiring Event Coordinators
Assist with any problems that may arise in the event planning process
Attend all events to ensure they are well run
Must be ready to take on the responsibilities of an event coordinator/director as needed
Manage a team of Event Coordinators
Oversee an Organizing Committee for CMNSU’s larger events
Qualifications
Able to present him/herself professionally—demonstrates prior knowledge of working with key stakeholders (I.e. Vendors, partners, sponsors etc)
Must attend all weekly CMNSU meetings and monthly executive meetings, with a commitment of 8-10 hours a week (more hours required near event dates)
Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines
Able to work under pressure

Experience managing a team is an asset
Faculty & SFSS Council Representative
Overview: The Faculty Representative sits in on all school and undergraduate school council meetings, and acts as a channel of communication between CMNSU and the faculty and school staff. The Faculty Representative should be able to aptly bring up any concerns or feedback to the right individuals to produce meaningful results for the student body.
Responsibilities
Responsible for attending all faculty meetings in the School of Communication, acting as a liaison between faculty and the CMNSU and reporting back to the CMNSU
Responsible for attending all Undergraduate Committee meetings in the School of Communication, acting as a liaison between faculty and the CMNSU and reporting back to the CMNSU
Responsible for attending all CMNSU meetings
Responsible for updating Faculty folder on the Google Drive throughout the year with relevant documents such as Faculty meeting agendas, minutes, schedule etc.
Following up with President and other executives during exec meetings
Qualifications
Must attend all weekly CMNSU meetings, monthly executive meetings, and all school/undergraduate school committee meetings, with approximately 6 hours of commitment per week
Must have excellent communication and relationship building skills
Interest in policy and advocacy is an asset
Vice President of Finance
Overview: The VP of Finance is responsible for managing the cash flow that comes in and out of the CMNSU. He/She is responsible for maintaining meticulous records and creating a budget for all departments within CMNSU, and coordinate fundraising efforts including sponsorships.
Responsibilities
Maintains records of the cash flow for the CMNSU
Keeps record of all liaisons with the SFSS concerning financial matters
Constructs Sponsorship plans and packages for CMNSU events
Oversees the Sponsorship Coordinator positions
Develops financial reports and financial strategies for CMNSU initiatives
Manages merchandise sales
Provides weekly updates on the financial status of the CMNSU at each meeting
Exhausts all possible outlets for the funding of CMNSU events
Must be ready to fill the responsibilities of the sponsorship coordinators as necessary
Qualifications
Must attend all weekly CMNSU meetings and monthly executive meetings, with a commitment of 8-10 hours weekly

Events Coordinator
Overview: The Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing CMNSU’s events. This includes planning, executing and following-up on each event. Pillar events include semester series workshops and the possibilities of all social events or fundraising events. The Event Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting in bigger events like Careers in Communication and Frosh.
Responsibilities
Plan events varying from workshops, company tours, networking and speaker events
Attend and ensure the smooth running of each event
Recruit and manage event volunteers
Follow-up with stakeholders after each event to gain feedback
Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders
Qualifications
Must attend all weekly CMNSU meetings and any weekly/bi-weekly events meetings, with a commitment of 5-7 hours a week

Social Media Coordinator
Overview: Are you constantly on your phone sending tweets, scrolling on Instagram, and updating your Facebook status? This position is perfect for those who have a passion for social media and a desire to engage with the student body. The Social Media Coordinator is the face of the CMNSU for they manage all of the CMNSU’s social media networks such as the Facebook page, Twitter account, etc. They create the image the CMNSU portrays to the public, promotes CMNSU’s different events and workshops, and ensures consistency on all platforms.
Responsibilities
Engage students to interact with the different social media platforms
Manage and update the CMNSU Twitter handle (@cmnsu), Facebook page (www.facebook/cmnsu.com), and Instagram (@cmnsu)
Works with the VP Events promoting different workshops and events held by CMNSU
Promotes different job, volunteer, and internship opportunities relevant to the Communications field
Promotes the Student Life articles and Features Editor articles
Develops different strategies to increase CMNSU’s social media following
Oversee all social media platforms as frequently as possible on a daily basis
Initiate ways to better CMNSU’s social media presence
Reach out to potential sponsorship partners and other key individuals via social media
Qualifications
Must attend weekly CMNSU meetings, with a minimum commitment of 6 hours weekly

Features Editor
Overview: This position is for someone who will enjoy branching out and networking on behalf of the CMNSU. The Alumni Relations Coordinator will initiate interviews with SFU Communication Alumni in order to find out stories behind their success. They will also follow-up and maintain relationships with the CMNS Alumni.
Responsibilities
Manage the relationship between CMNSU and its Alumni
Interview CMNS Alumni
Write insightful stories on Alumni’s success to be published on the CMNSU website
Adhere to an editorial calendar and meet deadlines
Contribute to the Alumni Appreciation page
Qualifications

Multimedia Coordinator
Overview: The Multimedia Coordinator is responsible for generating and maintaining all graphics content for CMNSU, including both print and digital material. This position is for someone with a creative mind and a strong work ethic. The Multimedia Coordinator may be called upon to create marketing and branding material such as posters, banners, t-shirts, and postcards, as well as actively participate in the creation of marketing strategies. Other projects could include formatting event programs and sponsorship packages for special events like Careers in Communication.
Responsibilities
Create, edit and maintain all graphics content
Maintain brand identity throughout all marketing material
Brainstorm design and layout ideas, and implement into graphics concept
Review and approve proofs for printing
Qualifications

Sponsorship Coordinator
Overview: Sponsorship Coordinators reach out to potential partners to help fund our annual signature event, Careers in Communications, as well as smaller workshops and events throughout the year. The Sponsorship Coordinator will work closely with the VP of Finance to develop and execute new initiatives that allows that the CMNSU to create lasting partnerships with local businesses and the SFU community.
Responsibilities
Help develop an official sponsorship package for various events (content only)
Ensure sponsors are appropriately recognized and thanked for their contributions
Maintain sponsorship and fundraising database
Represent the CMNSU at various community events
Create and foster relationships with local businesses
Be able to communicate proficiently through multiple means of contact
Identify partnership opportunities for events through vendors and merchandise
Able to brainstorm and approach suitable businesses and stakeholders in a professional manner
