We are looking for a highly organized, assertive and outgoing personality to lead and manage a variety of full service PR initiatives and campaigns for a number of accounts, liaising closely with the Principal. This individual can be described as results-driven and self-directed, fundamental qualities to all members of the team; able to catch whatever the team may throw them and run with it effectively. This person is also importantly a PR hound, aggressive and relentless in the pursuit of media opportunities for clients and a confident communicator with both media and clients alike. Finally, we’re looking for a true team player with the ability to project manage and deliver on expectations even under the pressure of short deadlines.

Responsibilities Include:

Manage PR programs for a number of clients garnering monthly interview and byline opportunities in line with the client’s brand and business goals

Build relationships with both clients and media alike

Liaise on a weekly and monthly basis with clients to discuss progress, results and present new ideas via conference calls and face to face meetings

Brainstorm and devise news angles and campaign ideas to grab media interest

Draft eloquent and compelling press releases and media pitches that include a strong hook

Coordinate PR distribution via newswire, Cision and traditional e-mail campaigns

Schedule interviews and meetings via Outlook calendar through coordination with both reporters and clients

Develop PR proposals for campaigns and presentations that map out both strategic objectives, tactics and timeline

Confidently present PR and marketing proposals to potential clients

Research editorial and PR opportunities for clients, as well as stats and evidence supporting press releases and pitch ideas, articles related to key client topics, reporter bios and publication background, etc.

Design and compile comprehensive media reports demonstrating Magnolia tracked PR hits, at times including quantitative details such as ad value and UVM

Compile media lists and editorial calendars via excel with the use of both Google and Cision efficiently

Create media brief documents with detailed and insightful notes to prepare clients for interview appointments

Plan and execute social media campaigns for various client accounts and the company

Draft thoughtful speaking proposals and compelling award submissions

Provide copywriting and editing assistance on byline articles, e-mailers, newsletters, brochures and other collateral

Interview clients in gathering information for bylined article pieces

Coordinate corporate video production, sourcing videography contractors and liaising closely with both clients and video editors on changes

Manage details for client events, including venue booking, catering, audio/visual requirements and printing of presentation materials

Work closely with in-house graphic designer on layout and concepts for collateral

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or similar level certificate related to journalism, marketing, public relations and communications desired

1-2 years of experience of communications and/or public relations required; prior experience working in an agency is an asset

Excellent leadership and project management skills

Experience in writing press releases, designing presentations through Powerpoint and creating clean, concise documents in Microsoft word is useful

Creative, analytical and personable skillset

Detailed eye in proofing and editing documents

Strong oral and written communications skills

Keen interest in current events, technology, finance and business issues an asset
