In 95 Til Infinity, off his upcoming mixtape Summer Knights, Joey Bada$$ claims “I swear I’m born abnormally absurd,” but the video for the track doesn’t really support that sentiment. The clip follows Bada$$ as he walks around New York City, grabs some takeout, and rides a bike while frequently looking back at the camera. The video’s less than enthralling, but it’s a testament to the the song, which would sound good even if it was soundtracking public access TV at 4 am.
95 Til Infinity, a heavy-lidded wink to Souls Of Mischief, features Bada$$ spitting rhymes so gruffly it sounds like his throat is gonna come out of his mouth, against a sleepy, weed-high beat. Just days before the release of Summer Knights, out July 1 via Cinematic Music Group, it seems this video is one final-hour effort to amp us up for what’s to come. And it’s working.
