My friend Kylie is hosting a mini charm square blog hop! Mini charms are 2 1/2″ squares and lots of manufacturers sell them. The mini charms I used for my pencil pouch all came out of my scrap basket. The size is also great for fussy cutting, and, as you’ll see, mini quilts! Since mini charms are so small, I generally sew them together as little squares, so there isn’t any waste.

This pencil pouch was inspired by a pouch I received with some makeup years ago, and I have always loved how it props itself open when it’s unzipped. Since I keep my pens and pencils in a pouch open on my table most of the time, it seemed like the perfect answer. And it’s a great way to show off a fun lining too!
