Earlier this week news surfaced that Gwyneth Paltrow and long-time hubby Coldplay singer Chris Martin were ending their marriage. On Tuesday, Paltrow took to her personal website Goop, with a post entitled “Conscious Uncoupling“, which was meant to be a joint post from the couple announcing their fight to stay together and ultimately the decision to end their marriage. The couple has been married for more than a decade and have two children, Apple Martin, 9, and Moses Martin, 7 together.

US Weekly reports, the couple is currently in the Bahamas during this difficult time. “conscious uncoupling” is a practice developed by best selling author Katherine Woodward Thomas. It is a method that helps couples slowly breakup in a healthy way over the course  of a 5-week program. Rest assured though, the couple is still on very good terms. Paltrow’s BFF Cameron Diaz told the media  that, “they worked really hard. People want it to blow up and it to be ugly, but they’re both kind, generous, loving people who really care about one another.”  Diaz continued, “They are very good friends. Just because they aren’t together, doesn’t mean that they have to hate each other.”

Although Chris has not commented on the split Perez Hilton reports the singer’s father Anthony Martin had the following to say:

” If you are married you know you have good days and bad days. We all have our ups and downs. It is sad because they are our two grandchildren. But it is very amicable between them.”

We wish the couple the very best during this trying time.
