Jurgen Klopp is set to become Liverpool manager as early as Friday after holding progressive talks.

Klopp met with Anfield officials in London yesterday to discuss plans to succeed Brendan Rodgers, who was deposed on Sunday, and could be installed at the helm before this weekend.

The 48-year-old’s stock remains high on the back of leading Borussia Dortmund to successive Bundesliga titles during seven years with the club and has long been considered Fenway Sports Group’s ideal candidate since they became Reds owners in 2010.

Klopp is expected to sign a three-year deal and is under no illusions of working within the current structural parameters at Anfield, including the infamous transfer committee that became synonymous with Rodgers’ three-year tenure.
