Every Spring is the same story around here: sneezing, sniffles and runny noses! Unfortunately, we have a few household members who suffer from allergies due to all the pollen in the air. Our current air filter is quite old & small so when Luma Comfort gave me the opportunity to review one of their larger units I was thrilled. Luma Comfort AP400W Air Purifier Filter Layers
Layer 1: Carbon Pre-Filter: According to the manufacturer the Carbon Pre-filter lifespan is usually about 3 months. The Carbon pre-filter is specifically design to trap large particles, including: dust, pet hair and dander, it also aids in the elimination of odors from cigarette smoke, cooking smells, various pet odors and harmful chemical vapors.
Layer 2: HEPA filter: As you may already know HEPA Filter are very popular these days because they are design to trap micro particles in the air, such as: smoke, soot, dust, pet dander, mold spores, pollen and more. The Luma Comfort Air Purifier’s HEPA filter has a lifespan of about 6 months.
Layer 3: VOC (Volatile organic compounds) filter: The Luma Comfort Air Purifier’s VOC Filter has a lifespan of about 6 months, this layer helps eliminate carbon-based airborne chemicals that can be found through your household including paint, furniture and carpeting. The Luma Comfort VOC filter is comprised of activated carbon and designed specifically to combat these harmful gases and compounds.
Layer 4: TiO2 (Titanium Dioxide) Mesh Filter: This next filter layer is the most complex but it is the most beneficial to the entire system. The titanium dioxide, or TiO2, coated filter in combination with the last year (UV lamps), destroys bacteria and harmful chemicals through a chemical reaction which in turn helps destroy harmful pollutants and deodorize your home. The Luma Comfort Air Purifier’s TiO2 has a lifespan of about 6 months.
Layer 5: UV (Ultraviolet) Bulb: With a lifespan of about 1 to 2 years, the UV lights help destroyed microorganisms such as: germs, viruses, bacteria, mold and more.
Luma Comfort AP400W Air Purifier Control Panel
As you can see from the image above the Luma Comfort Air Purifier has a simple control panel. From the control panel you can set turn on/off the unit, set the fan speed, set the unit timer, turn on/off the UV light lamps, and check if the filter need to be change. To turn on the unit simple lightly press the power button. The fan has three setting: low, medium & fast. To set the timer, simply press the button: each time you press the button, it will cycle through from one hour up to seven. The lights will light up to show you the current set time. For instance, one hour will have the 1 lit up, while six hours will have the 2 and 4 lit up.
The Luma Comfort AP400W Air Purifier is slick and elegant, but most importantly, it is powerful. Since we started using I have notice that my house smells cleaner, not chemically clean but refresh and less dense. I have also notice less sneezing and fewer sniffles. The Luma Comfort air purifier has given me a piece of mind, knowing that it is continuously working hard at eliminating harmful gasses and particles from the air we breath. Beside all the benefits this air purifier has, I think my favorite feature is that it is extremely quiet. You can barely hear it running, I LOVE it, and as a plus, this unit is the perfect size for our home!
