General Description:
To be responsible for managing the demand/drive of all inbound materials, raw inventory levels, and shop master schedule.
Job Responsibilities:
Review and place purchase orders verbally, electronically, or via fax for all raw materials or finished goods and outside services
Establish and implement purchasing policies, best practices, and procedures
Support Strategic Sourcing Team with planning & negotiations
Collaborate with Plant Management to establish inventory safety stock levels, reorder amounts and lead times for all raw materials and finished goods
Responsible for negotiations/strategy of all 2nd & 3rd tier commodities
Lead cross functional teams in continuous improvements: business processes, shop kaizens, cost-downs with suppliers, etc.
Implement & maintain supplier scorecard
Manage inventory accuracy using cycle counts
Implement kanbans according to demand segmentation analysis
Investigate & implement supplier inventory deployment to reduce lead-times
Manage item masters fields related to materials in ERP system
Automate and maintain forecast link for suppliers
Review and resolve any discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues
Provide raw material and finished goods projections to key suppliers to ensure product availability on a timely basis
Evaluate all purchase orders to ensure that order quantities are the most cost effective possible for material and freight costs
Provide Accounting Department with periodic raw material and finished goods material costs to assist in maintaining product costing, projected raw material and finished goods costs for annual price meetings
Communicate all pertinent issues and concerns regarding suppliers, raw materials and finished goods to all appropriate Garland Supervisors, Managers and Product Managers
Qualifications:
BS or BA in Business Administration, Purchasing or Management
