Its been a few months since I last brought you a review from BRITAX, having no children which use pushchairs now means I am somewhat limited. But recently the guys at BRITAX have been busy and are producing a new range of car seats with a great new technology designed for group 2/3 seats.

To introduce this new technology to you BRITAX have provided me with this new car seat, the KIDFIX II XP SICT.

Designed for children aged 4-12 years (15kg-36kg) this group 2-3 car seat his a high backed booster and excels legal safety standards providing protection to the highest standards.

The KIDFIX II XP SICT provides a wide range of accessories to enhance its safety standards, first up we shall discuss the newest of technology;

SecureGuard Technology – You may recall I gave a swift introduction to this at the end of October, well now I have seen and tested it up front and it is brilliant. Designed to hold your child’s waist line seat belt in the optimum position to ensure your child is sat in the correct position for travel (my son tends to slouch after a while in the car) and also to prevent your child’s abdomen should you be in an impact.

XP-PAD – Provides unique comfort for your child’s shoulder on journeys, prevents the seat belt becoming too tight and digging in. Also provides frontal impact protection should you be in an impact.

SICT – These are the new expandable padded side wings of the car seat, of which their are now 2, fitted in place and require expending depending which side of the car seat is closest to the door.

This seat still features its ISOFIX fittings, but even these have been upgraded from the original KIDFIX SL SICT and the ISOFIX clips are no longer on a piece of robe, they are fully fitted onto a tensioned bracket. This bracket can be used by squeezing the button under the front of the car seat, clipped into place and then squeeze the button again to push the seat into place.

Lewis couldn’t wait to climb in to try out his new car seat and I am immensely impressed, he looks as comfortable as ever and the seat belt no longer digs into this waist whilst the XP-PAD provides him with that extra bit of comfort to his shoulder.

Lewis is a very tall boy for his age, aged 6 he now measures over 135cm tall so by law is doesn’t have to use a car seat when travelling. But I am delighted that BRITAX have take tall children into account as Lewis’s headrest isn’t all the way up yet, he still had another 2 or 3 notches before he’ll be too tall for it. I am very happy that my tall giant baby will be able to use his car seat for some time to come. Well done BRITAX!

Below I have competed a installation video of our KIDFIX II XP SICT Car Seat so you can see for yourself how easy it is to install and use.

The KIDFIX II XP SICT Car Seat is currently exclusive to Mothercare with an RRP of £180 which I think is a perfect price for a car seat which could potentially be used for 6years+.
