THE OPPORTUNITY

Cleantech Group is helping innovators solve the world’s biggest problems by partnering them with some of the world’s biggest companies. Energy, water, transportation, wind, solar, agriculture—these are just some of the areas in which we’re helping startups and corporates change the world. We’re hyper-focused on building i3, our Data-as-a-Service platform that accelerates partnerships and provides deep insight and meaningful data on today’s marketplace of sustainable innovation. Our Advisory team complements the data, lists, and Campaigns in i3, helping clients take a deep dive into their processes and approach for sourcing innovation. i3 comes to life at our global events, which convene corporates and entrepreneurs from all corners of the globe.

But enough about us—let’s talk about you! We need your help to build this powerful tool. From product marketing and field tactics to freemium conversion paths and branding… do you know it all? If not, then could you at least figure it out? Tell us what you think makes for a good story, and how you can help our small, varsity-level marketing team drive sales growth, decrease customer acquisition costs, and increase user-lifetime value.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Generate and nurture juicy leads for the sales team, and tell us how you think we should do this.

Maintain a vibrant online presence across all channels (Medium, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Vimeo) driving in-bound demo requests and leads.

Manage and help hire a growing team of marketing specialist samurais and marketing interns, some of whom will be responsible for mining leads.

Improve freemium-user conversion ratios and increase freemium-user counts.

Own our weekly newsletter, and shape it to fit strategic marketing initiatives.

Contribute to on-going branding projects, including a new corporate website.

Inform i3’s product roadmap with ground truth and customer insights.

Develop, manage, and report KPIs, and leading/lagging metrics. This means rock SFDC dashboards and reports as though you have fun doing so.

Own the world of PR—from drafting press releases to reaching out to journalists and pitching stories. You aren’t afraid to make a cold call, and are excited to share our stories.

Manage our client-centric webinar and report calendar in collaboration with our top-notch research and sales teams. You’re going to play quarterback here, so come equipped.

REQUIREMENTS

BA or BSc degree, ideally in a relevant field (e.g., marketing, engineering, communications) from a school you’re proud of attending. Have an MBA degree? Even better.

4+ years of marketing experience in a B2B setting, or solid stories of how your experience will carry over and help us drive leads for our hungry sales team. (Heads-up, these folks have an insatiable appetite when it comes to leads. Bring your ‘A’ game.)

Prior experience in a fast-paced, software startup environment is preferred.

Keen attention to detail and excellent written and oral communication skills.

Knowledge of Salesforce.com is highly desirable. (We love Salesforce.com and you will learn to love it too, if you don’t already.)

Knowledge of Marketo is highly desirable. (If not Marketo, then another sophisticated marketing automation platform.)

Knowledge of Excel? A must. You are someone who dreams about pivot tables.

Knowledge of energy, water, or other cleantech sectors, or the passion to acquire such knowledge.

You are:

A bright, motivated, person who can tackle the unexpected and the unknown with gusto.

Awesome at a few things, great at everything else. You are a jack of all trades AND a master of some.

Ready and able help change the world through accelerating sustainable innovation.

A recovering management consultant or investment banker, or equipped with the same skills/mind set when it comes to data-analysis, presentation, proofing, collaboration, intuition and work-ethic.

Independent, motivated, and ready to support multiple initiatives simultaneously, pivoting as needed to meet the evolving demands of our business.

Able to use good judgment in time-sensitive situations, prioritizing your workload as needed to meet deadlines.

Able to travel internationally when required.

Fun.

Did we mention fun?

THE COMPANY

We are building i3, an online network that connects start-ups to bigger companies to help them grow, get funding, and form commercial partnerships. i3 already provides the largest corporations, VCs and services firms with comprehensive and reliable data about sustainable innovation. We are now in the process of building a social layer to allow our subscribers to act on that data and interact with innovators to identify partnership and investment opportunities. This is an exciting time for us: we are growing our business by catalyzing innovation, and the success stories keep coming in!
