I’ve previously stayed away from recommending supplements and giving any type of health advice in the past because I’m not a doctor or even a dietitian. That said, I’m pretty good at research and I consider myself a fairly savvy consumer (having earned two master’s degrees, one in public health nutrition, helps with that, too, I suppose).

Anyway, I became an affiliate of Dr. Fuhrman products a few years back, but I never really promoted the products except for an ad in my sidebar. When I changed my diet earlier this year by moving away from veganism, I had to re-evaluate everything including the supplements I was taking. I hired a dietitian who helped me identify some of the deficiencies I may have developed because my digestive system wasn’t extracting everything I needed from a plant-based diet, and she made some suggestions for new supplements I might consider.

Ever the skeptic, I reviewed all of my dietitian’s suggestions as well as those from my doctors, weighed against everything I had learned from Dr. Fuhrman. I had access to clinician-only lines of supplements and I spent hours going through the different brands and formulas to see if there were any that beat Dr. Fuhrman’s in terms of ingredients and price. During that time, I stopped being an affiliate of his products because I needed that independent perspective.

I was hugely relieved and happy that after all of my evaluation, I determined that Dr. Fuhrman-brand supplements are the best on the market for both Alan and me. As a result, I re-applied to be an affiliate and I’m proud to help promote his products, including providing links so you can have the information and check them out for yourself. You can see a list of articles about the benefits of Dr. Fuhrman’s line of supplements here, including why what isn’t in your multi-vitamin may just be as important as what is.

I do take some other supplements in addition to these based on my specific medical needs (which I’ll be happy to feature in another post at some point), but the basic women’s and men’s, plus the osteo-sun, are at the core of the vitamin routine in my household:

What the capsules look like…

Since we’re rapidly approaching 2015, I wrote this post today in case you are thinking about making changes to your vitamins and wanted some input on what I do:

As always, I’m sending you wishes for health and happiness for now and going forward.

Note: While I purchased all of the items reviewed in this post, I am an affiliate of Dr. Fuhrman’s line of supplements and using the links found within this post provide me with a small commission (paid by the company, not by you), that helps support my blog. Thank you in advance for your support.
