Description: Accelerate Okanagan (AO) is recruiting an Executive in Residence (EiR) to join it's Expert Services team. The goal of the Expert Service team is to accelerate the growth of technology companies and the development of entrepreneurs by identifying and dealing with their business challenges.
Our EiR's are "been there done it" technology and business professionals who provide strategic guidance in the areas of product and market validation, new venture creation, management team development and business connections. Typically, EiR's work one-on-one or with entrepreneurs but are also expected to leverage internal and external expert resources available through our partners, sponsors and personal business networks.
AO has developed programs to guide our engagement with venture clients, including our flagship Venture Acceleration Program (VAP). The VAP utilizes a lifecycle approach to business plan development. EiR’s are expected to develop a deep understanding of the VAP methodology and to apply it as appropriate in working with our clients. Over time, EiR’s are expected to help evolve the VAP methodology based on client engagements and feedback.
AO EiR roles are contract positions ranging from 10 to 20 hours per week and typically spend 85% of their time working directly with venture clients, the remaining time is dedicated to documentation preparation and review.
KEY FUNCTIONS:
• Perform VAP client intake assessments, needs analysis and ongoing progress monitoring
• Match clients with available programs / services
• Advance client companies forward through the VAP and other AO programs with particular focus on value proposition development, market definition/ characterization, delivery model development and cash flow analysis
• Connect client companies to other resources, both inside and outside of the region as necessary
• Diligently document client engagements and outcomes into AO's CRM
• Collaborate with the other team members to advance and perfect AO's programs and services offerings
• Assist in the promotion of AO, its programs and services offerings to help build its reputation within and outside the region
IDEAL EIR PROFILE & EXPERIENCE
• The ideal candidate will have a mixture of entrepreneurial and professional experience, preferably in high-tech startups and high growth organizations. This will include a minimum of 10 years experience in a senior/executive management position with a focus on product management, marketing or technology leadership.
• Experience in providing strategic consulting services to technology based companies in areas such as market assessment, product planning and business development. Experience in developing and applying industry best practice models is a definite asset.
• Ideally the candidate will have both professional experience in software development in a digital media environment and an on-going interest/appreciation for technology trends and direction
• A collaborative and flexible management style with demonstrable experience in goal setting, team building and program/project planning.
• Strong communication skills, and demonstrable experience as a mentor/business coach working with individuals with a wide range of skills and professional experience.
• Experience in successfully raising public and private capital.
• Cross Canada and / or International experience is a definite asset.
