Egbert Taylor Group Invests In Developing Waste Technology Platform

Egbert Taylor Group has begun 2017 by announcing its commitment to further business-to-business collaborations as part of its drive to become a 360-degree solutions provider and enable its customers to make their waste budgets work harder.

The Droitwich-based firm is welcoming discussions with innovative companies that wish to add value to the processes of waste collection and play a role in developing and shaping waste collection strategies of tomorrow.

The move, which builds on a successful 2016 that saw Egbert Taylor Group successfully integrate innovative and internationally-renowned brands within its growing waste solutions portfolio, comes as netBin is announced as the Group’s latest partner.

netBin, one of the products developed by FarSite Communications, is a web-based application that enables its users to develop efficient waste collection routes and base resource decisions on data created through its sensor technology.

From individual containers’ fill level and location to their temperature and usage statistics, netBin provides its users with full visibility over an entire fleet, regardless of the bin, container type or size. It can also play a key role in preventing misuse, reducing risks such as fires and ensuring that traditional bins never become overfull and are only emptied when full, increasing the efficiency of waste handling fleets.

Recyclers Team Up With Football Club To Support The Elderly

Manchester-based Hadfield Wood Recyclers has teamed up with a local football club to help expand a new initiative aimed at reaching out to older people in the north of Manchester.

The company is funding the Sporting Memories Network project, which is being led by the not-for-profit supporter-owned football club FC United of Manchester.

The Sporting Memories Network was set up locally last year by the Moston-based football club, working alongside the national charity Sporting Memories Foundation.

The project aims to unite elderly people to reduce isolation and loneliness and encourage friendships.

To date the Moston-based project has set up a weekly meeting held at FC United’s ground and has 16 regular members.

But the club is keen to expand the project further afield, starting more groups and eventually offering support across the whole of the north of Manchester.

Hadfield Wood Recycler’s funding will help the project expand and do more activities with current members.

VWS Honoured For “Vital” Van Safety Overload Protection System

Vehicle Weighing Solutions Ltd (VWS) has been announced as the winner of the Innovation in Safety Award at the Van Fleet World Honours 2017 for its VOPS™2  (Van Overload Protection System).

The awards ceremony took place on 21 February at the RAC Club, Pall Mall, London.

The vehicle on-board weighing and axle overload protection, VWS developed VOPS2, a reliable enclosed measurement system, to help prevent overloading from occurring.

One of the judges, Dan Gilkes, Editor, Van Fleet World said: “We were really impressed with the VWS overload protection system. As more than 80% of the vans stopped and weighed by DVSA last year were found to be overweight VOPS2 could provide a vital safety resource, particularly for fleets that regularly run near or at full weight capacity.

“VWS can also install an alarm that will sound as maximum weight is approached, preventing overloading and boosting road safety for all.”
