Ventura City Firefighters Raise Over $6,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Fill The Boot Campaign
The Ventura City Firefighter Association participated in their annual Muscular Dystrophy Association “Fill the Boot” on November 23 and 24, 2013. Each year, members of the Association grab their boots and take to the streets to help fight neuromuscular diseases.
MDA is a voluntary health agency working to defeat more than 40 neuromuscular diseases. Funds from the event will remain in Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo Counties. Funds are used to send children to MDA’s weeklong summer camp, purchase durable medical equipment, and support a comprehensive patient services program. MDA also funds over 400 research projects worldwide in an effort to achieve its goal of eliminating neuromuscular disease. This year the Ventura City Firefighter’s Association raised $6,036 for the MDA.
In 2013, the IAFF presented a check to MDA for over $23 million and $450 million has been raised since the MDA-IAFF relationship began 59 years ago!
