Everyone loves a holiday, but airports are often a caveat, with travellers enduring long queues just to check in. Then there are the hours spent in the waiting area, before joining the mad rush to find the departure gate.
But holidaymakers after a more enjoyable travel experience should check out some of these airports, named as the world's best at the 2015 World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Paris.
Singapore Changi grabbed first place for the third year running, and it also marked the sixth time the airport won. It's one of the best places to shop and dine in Singapore, as well as being home to the city state's tallest slide.
"Rather than dwell on earlier success, the airport continues to innovate and concentrate on making the customer experience in the airport environment the most enjoyable," Mr Edward Plaisted, chief executive of UK-based consultancy Skytrax that organised the awards, said.
However, if your air-miles won't stretch all the way to Singapore, there are some alternatives closer to home. Zurich Airport took sixth place, while London Heathrow came in eighth, followed by Amsterdam Schiphol.
The awards were based on 13.02 million customer nominations, and looked at customer satisfaction across performance indicators for airport service and product.
