Ludhiana, December 26, 2012:     A two-week hand-on-training course on “Operation and Programming of Computerised Numerically Controlled (CNC) Machines” commenced at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), recently.

The course has been jointly organised by the Department of Farm Machinery and Power Engineering (FMPE) and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, PAU. The employees of farm machinery manufacturers, I.T.I pass outs and rural youth of Punjab are participating in the course, which will conclude on January 7, 2013.

Dr PPS Lubana, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (COAE&T), said that the training will be useful in enhancing the skills of the agricultural machinery manufacturers and will provide more employment opportunities to the rural youth in production and manufacturing units.

Dr Gursahib Singh Manes, Head, Department of FMPE, said that the trainees will receive training in CNC lathe, CNC milling and CNC drilling in addition to the electrical discharge machining (EDM) installed in a newly developed laboratory and latest technologies used for manufacturing.

Dr Manjeet Singh and Dr Jarnail Singh of COAE&T are coordinating the training course. Dr Manjeet Singh said that after the completion of training, the trainees will be capable to operate the CNC machine with their own hands alongwith the skill of its programming.  He informed that the participants will be awarded certificates after successful completion of training.
