The Keen Targhee II is a supremely comfortable and lightweight hiking shoe that is suitable for general country and hill walking, rugged travel or even daily duties. It is made from a tough oiled nubuk leather and fabric upper lined with Keen's own waterproof and breathable membrane to create a totally waterproof and breathable barrier.
The first thing you notice when you slip your foot into the Targhee II is how incredibly comfortable they are underfoot. Keen have used a long lasting dual density EVA midsole to provide comfort and cushioning and this is stabilised with a Torsion Stability ESS Shank to reduce foot fatigue over long distances. The removable metatomical dual density EVA footbed really is a thing of luxury compared with the standard footbeds found in other footwear and the chunky, multi-directional dual compound rubber outsole provides a fine balance between grip and longevity, coping with a variety of surfaces and ground conditions.
A great feature of Keen footwear is their ingenious lacing system that locks your foot into the boot by tensioning a webbing band around your heel, this really helps to reduce heel slip and adds a sense of security on steep and uneven ground.
We have found that the sizing on the Keen is slightly small so you may have to go up half or even a full size, they also have a roomier fit so if you have skinny feet these may not be the shoes for you.
