Are you considering dual enrolling in 2017-18?
If so, there are important restrictions and guidelines that must be followed. More importantly you need to remember the rules differ a bit depending upon which college or university to which you apply.
In addition to the typical qualifiers, there is a state residency rule. For students wishing to dual enroll with the new Valencia/Circle partnership, the time to apply is NOW.
The State of Florida residency guidelines require students wishing to dual enroll with a state college to do so with the college in the county in which they reside. Qualified students wishing to dual enroll with UCF may reside in any Central Florida county.
The exception to the State College residency rules pertains to private high school partnership with a state college for the purpose of offering college classes on the high school campus.
Therefore, in order for Circle students to enroll in a Valencia College/Circle class offered on the Circle campuses, students must fully comply with Valencia College’s Dual Enrollment Guidelines, but the Circle school location of Orange county will be deemed residence.
Only qualified students living in Orange or Osceola counties who qualify for dual enrollment with Valencia College, will also have the opportunity to dual enroll in additional classes at any Valencia College location.
Qualified students, who reside in other counties, MAY NOT take any class on a Valencia campus. Those students must apply to the State College associated with the county in which they reside for any additional courses. For example, students living in Seminole county are permitted to apply to Valencia only for Circle Dual Enrollment and must also apply to SSC for any other dual enrollment courses.
Again, for students wishing to dual enroll with the new Valencia/Circle partnership, the time to apply is NOW and ends April 7, 2017. The Assessment Scores Deadline is April 28, 2017.
The Valencia/Circle dual enrollment partnership allows qualified juniors and seniors the opportunity to dual enroll math at Circle’s Metro or Calvary campus. Participation mandates Circle students follow all Valencia guidelines. Obviously, students wishing to dual enroll on Valencia campuses, must also follow all these directives. If you wish to dual enroll with UCF, SSC, Lake Sumter, or Daytona State contact the Circle Guidance office to pick up your application. The qualifying ACT, SAT, and or PERT scores will be similar for the state colleges, but application dates vary.
