Cities around the country are all abuzz with little boys and girls coming out in throngs to see their favorite cartoon darling Doc Mcstuffins on an interactive mobile bus. But what makes this Doc McStuffins tour EXTRA special is the fact that real life physicians who are women of color have also joined this movement and are changing the face of medicine by serving as role models in the tour.
The tour kicked off August 18th in Boston and is making it’s way around to select cities (below) and will come to Atlanta on Sept. 14th. The Doc Mcstuffins will be on hand to greet families.
The doctors represent the Artemis Medical Society, an organization comprised of more than 2900 physician women of color representing 39 U.S. states and 12 countries.
During the Doc Mobile events, Artemis Medical Society members will greet fans of the popular Disney Junior Series “Doc McStuffins,” showing it is truly possible for life to imitate art. The Artemis Medical Society was formed in June 2012 by 12 American women after its founders saw a reflection of themselves in the “Doc McStuffins” character. 
“As a physician and mother, I’m grateful to Disney Junior for creating meaningful programming,” said Dr. Myiesha Taylor, Artemis Medical Society co-founder and president. “We credit Doc McStuffins with sparking a movement, now we are organized for a greater purpose and vision. Artemis is setting the ground work for a more diverse physician workforce. We want people to know Doc can be on the small or big screen, and she can also be in your communities.”
Similar to the animated series, the Doc Mobile, a 27-foot Airstream trailer custom made to reach young children and families with fun and empowering lessons on health, wellness and nutrition. Doc Mobile will make stops in 10 cities: Boston, New York City, Chicago, San Antonio, Dallas/Fort Worth, New Orleans, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, and Phoenix.
