Group Sales Manager

Reports
to: Director of Marketing

Job Summary

Reporting
to the Director of Marketing, the Group Sales Manager is accountable for
directing and leading the team responsible for sales to the Corporate, Youth,
Special Markets and Catering segments. This position focuses on the yearly
sales plan and strategy, client development, managing key relationships and
identifying new target markets and sales products with the goal of meeting and
exceeding annual attendance and revenue goals. Additionally, the Group Sales
Manager is responsible for identifying market trends, industry best practices
and overseeing training and development of sales staff.

 

Essential Duties
and Responsibilities

Works
with the Director to determine park annual sales and revenue goals; develops
and implements strategic sales plan in support of goals; and ensures goals and
projections are in accordance with Cedar Fair Corporate attendance and revenue
goals. 

Establishes
individual sales plans and goals for the corporate, group, eTicket, youth,
special markets, and catered event programs.

Directs,
develops, mentors and motivates sales team and seasonal support staff to manage
performance and build commitment to achieving goals.

Builds,
leads, and proactively conducts ongoing sales training to enhance performance
and control sales programs.  Establishes
individual sales goals and works with Sales Representatives on strategies and tactics
to achieve these goals.

Conducts
regular client visits and participates in industry events such as trade shows,
analyzing productivity of show and sales results.

Researches
and develops new sales product and programs, constantly evaluating current
product and client satisfaction.

Develops
and maintains best practices and service initiatives to achieve optimal sales
service and client retention. Resolves client complaints fairly and in a timely
fashion.

Must
understand the competitive landscape and how to maintain leadership position
given market and economic changes.  Proactively
adjusts sales plan and strategies accordingly.

Analyzes
weekly financial and attendance trends to identify sales opportunities.

Develops
annual budget and manages/forecasts all expenses.  Tracks sales against forecast, develops plans
to exceed forecast, and adjusts as needed.

Achieves
or exceeds budgetary and financial targets throughout the fiscal year.

Works
with Accounting and Sales Representatives to track and manage client payments
and takes appropriate action when accounts are delinquent or underperforming.

Delivers
weekly reports to management with regard to sales, sales opportunities, account
status and areas of proposed expansion.

Develops
and delivers sales presentations to key clients or client groups in
coordination with sales representatives.

Monitors
and manages the Group Sales CRM system reviewing contact management tools and
sales pipeline status, reviews status with Sales Representatives on a weekly
basis.

Provides
proactive communication to Corporate Sales functions and participates as needed
in planning and strategy sessions with corporate.

 

Qualifications

Minimum
5 years’ related experience in hospitality, entertainment, sports, or travel
preferred.

Bachelor’s
degree in marketing, business, sales management or related field preferred.

Demonstrated
skill leading a sales team with experience selling in a group segment.

Proven
ability to influence multiple stakeholders and identify strategic goals and
opportunities.

Ability
to evaluate the impact of pricing on a retail and wholesale level in the
overall pricing strategy of the parks.

Understanding
of distribution channel strategy and how retail and wholesale channels work
together. 

Excellent
written and verbal skills.  Experience in
delivering presentations to executive level.

Proficient
in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and knowledge of CRM systems.

Ability
to travel and work weekends as required.
