The New York Hall of Science (NYSCI) held its annual gala, an “Evening of Science and Inspiration,″ in New York City November 16, honoring four industry leaders as well as three students who worked as “explainers″ at NYSCI. CIESIN director Robert Chen again served as one of the gala′s vice chairs. The event attracted 650 supporters from the metropolitan area and raised more than $1.7 million for the museum, which is located at the site of the 1964 World′s Fair in Queens, New York. CIESIN worked with NYSCI to develop the Connected Worlds exhibit in the museum′s Great Hall, and is currently collaborating on a NYSCI project funded by the National Science Foundation to infuse computational thinking into learning about the environment.
