Hello,

I work for an educational institution that recently purchased several Extron control systems, and we have had numerous problems with them. We have 15 classrooms that each use an Extron MLC226 IP MediaLink controller to allow switching between a Dell E5440 laptop, a Sony Bluray player and inputs for user devices. The MLC226 turns a Dell S500WI projector on/off directly through the RS232 connection, and also talks to an Extron IN1606 Switcher unit that then sends a video signal to the projector.

We have had problems in just about every room where a system will not turn on and the buttons on the control panel will not respond to a user at all. I've factory reset each control panel and attempted to reload my configuration. This will work for a few days and then go back to the same problem.

Other rooms have issues with volume control fading out then back in at a very loud level. Then when a user tries to turn the volume up or down, the system does not respond. I have attempted troubleshooting with Extron support but they have not been able to come up with a solution to either problem. My installers have also tested each A/V component directly connected to the projector without issues so we've eliminated everything but the switcher and control panel as issues.

Has anyone else ever experienced a similar issue with this kind of setup? Do you have any suggestions? Sorry for the long post but I appreciate any help you can provide me.

Thanks!
