Towards the end of 2014 the idea began to brew about establishing Staff Writers for ChurchMag.

These would be regular contributors who have a passion and unique strengths surrounding Church tech and creativity. Like the newspaper days of old, each Staff Writer would be given a “beat” to cover and would write at least one post per week with a commitment of one year.

Since the beginning of the year, this team of Staff Writers have been following through with all kinds of awesome. So as I introduce you to the 2015 ChurchMag Staff Writers, you may recognize them—not for who I say they are, but as who you’ve already be seeing them write…

The 2015 ChurchMag Staff Writers

Jeremy Smith is a Christian first, husband and father next, and then a blogger, writer, and social media realist. He is currently an outpatient clinician at a Colorado Community Behavioral Health Center and previously worked at Youth for Christ/USA as the Social Media Specialist as well as a Youth Ministry Director over the span of more than ten years. Phil Schneider
Staff Writer: Technology & Theology

ChurchMag Writer Since 2011

phil@churchm.ag

I’m a teacher, preach, and a part-time blogger. I primarily write for ChurchMag, but you can find some of my thoughts about theology, philosophy, and “churchology” at my personal site. I don’t like talking about myself much—especially in a bio section—so I’ll shift the focus to my most important accomplishment: my family. My wife, Kaitlyn, is a constant source of wisdom and inspiration from which most of my best work flows. Our daughter, Emma, is so amazing that she nearly defies description.

Are you jealous yet? Hmm. I must not be a very good writer, cause you should be.

Rachel Blom
Staff Writer: Blogging & Writing

ChurchMag Writer Since 2012

rachel@churchm.ag

I’m Dutch of origin, but American at heart and since 2014 I live in upstate New York with my husband and son (7). I’m an author, writer, blogger, and former youth pastor who tries to love Jesus more than anything. Writing and students are my passion but reading is almost an addiction; I devour over 150 books a year, which makes me a walking encyclopedia of completely useless, but fun facts. I also love hiking and I’m learning to play the drums.

Chris Wilson
Staff Writer: Apps & Productivity

ChurchMag Writer Since 2013

chris@churchm.ag

I’m an English as a foreign language teacher who is currently based in Krakow, Poland. In my spare time you’ll find me taking photos, playing the ukulele or experimenting with the latest apps. I’ve been a fan of technology ever since I was a child and used it to help me overcome my learning difficulties. Now I try and help others use technology to its fullest and avoid its pitfalls.
