A was recently asked by a fairly large church about online church membership training apps. Coming from a more modest size church, I had never thought of such a thing!
However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized how cool of an idea this would be–even for smaller churches.
So, here are six online church membership training apps I found in researching online training tools.

Many of these solutions would only be considered by large congregations, ministries and non-profit organizations.
There are some solutions here that could work for smaller churches.
Pricing usually depends on the number of allowed users, unique logins, etc…; so bear that in mind as you compare pricing!
Solutions that allow mobile devices are a huge plus
Now, here are the six online church membership training apps:
EZ LCMS
EZ LCMS is..
“…an easy to use Learning Content Management System that allows users to build, import, assemble, deliver, and track training content and events, all in one online system.”
Like other apps, EZ LCMS is used by some notable corporations. It is robust, flexible, scalable, brandable, and more. It can even be used on tablets and smartphones!
Considering the pricing, I would recommend taking them up on their 15-day free trial to see if this is the right online church membership training app for your church, ministry or non-profit organization.
Pricing varies from $199 to $599 per month.

GoToTraining
GoToTraining…
“…online training software lets you hold interactive training sessions with up to 200 people – right from your desk without the need for IT support. Save time and travel costs by moving your training program online.”
GoToTraining is part of the GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar ecosphere, so if you’ve used these before, this might be the option for your church or organization.
If you’re looking for a live solution, this is one you’ll want to seriously look at. GoToTraining is far more interactive, as you can use a webcam and even share your screen.
There’s a lot going on with GoToTraining and the price shows it. Consider their free 30-day trial before jumping in with both feet.
Pricing varies from $149 to $349 per month (and up).

Litmos
Litmos is…
“…an online training system that makes the management and delivery of web-based training courses easy. Customize the look & feel to fit your brand, upload course content and then track the results.”
With Litmos, you can uplaod videos, audio, PowerPoint and Keynote presentations. It includes custom branding and the ability to schedule, track, analyze and report scheduled live training events.
Litmos looks like a good solution for those want a nice mix of both live and self-lead training sessions. As with all the other systems, I recommend the 14-day free trial.
Pricing ranges from $49 to $1,499 per month (and up).

Mindflash
Mindflash is…
“…easy online training.”
Although their website isn’t as slick as the previous solutions, their features look solid for your typical online church membership training solution. You can upload existing content, create quizzes, manage your members, create reports and even use their online system on a tablet or mobile device.
Mindflash also allows you to upload media files, record audio, personalize the look, and more. With an available 30-day free trial with unlimited use, you should be considering Mindflash, but only if you need this robust of a solution.
Prices start at $149 per month and go to $999 per month (notice the basic package allows 50 trainees).

LearningZen
LearningZen is…
“…a revolutionary, low cost, easy to use online training platform. Getting your training content online has never been easier. LearningZen.com private portals.”
Again, we see the ease a LMS can be for churches, ministries and non-profit organizations. LearningZen is easy to use, requires no installation or IT, and you can create courses, exams, management trainees and more!
Although LearningZen doesn’t offer a free trial, they do offer a free trial. Since you have to request one, I would imagine the put you in contact with a sales rep which can be both good and bad. Hold your ground and don’t make any commitments, while at the same time, taking advantage of asking questions of someone familiar with a Learning Management System (LMS).
Pricing is a little different–$1,999 per year up to a $25,000 white label version.

Ubutu
Ubutu is an..
“…easy to use online learning solutions designed to help small and large organizations build and distribute online training courses.”
Ubutu impressed me with their wide range of solutions. They offer everything from a free account to full customized solutions. Very impressive.
This is where a great deal of churches, ministries and non-profit organizations will probably end-up landing for a hosted online church membership training system. Their course authoring tool is completely free and I found it to be pretty cool. When you want to begin to dig into hosting your own LMS, customizing the design and start using SSL, you’ll have to pay.
Ubutu has great pricing, too: Free, $19 per month, $39 per month, and the mighty $25,000 server–YIKES! on that one.

Wildcard
Although I have not seen this implemented, I thought I would throw the idea out there. A lot of churches could consider building and hosting a church membership training app by using WordPress or other website CMS. For instance, you could use WordPress and implement some sweet Gravity forms that could generate a basic enough system to meet the need–complete with login and user names!
