My biggest struggle with nut butters – other than trying to convince myself to stop eating them by the spoonful – is that I can never decide what kind to make. I’m that person who stands in the aisle with all the nuts and seeds and dried fruits just staring at it as you walk through, thinking, “what are you doing?” And what I’m actually doing is trying to decide which ones to buy, while simultaneously trying to decide which ones would be best for the recipes I want to create, while also having all these ideas for new recipes pop into my head. Sometimes I end up standing there for a while.
And sometimes, I just can’t decide. I just can’t settle on one type of nut butter, or one flavour, and instead, I want a little bit of everything. Not to mention, I want all the healthy goodness from all of them all at once. I think this calls for another recipe creation.
Today I’m sharing a nut butter that combines ALL THE THINGS! There’s a variety of seeds and nuts, some healthy oils and some superfood spices. More than that though, there’s a nut butter that you can eat that means you don’t have to limit your selection to one kind, and that you could even justify eating by the spoonful if you needed to. I mean it’s loaded with superfoods. Okay, just not too many spoonfuls. Regardless, each ingredient is packed with goodness, so here’s what you’ll get in every bite:
Sunflower Seeds – High in Vitamin E, which is really good for your skin and packed with cholesterol lowering phytosterols, a healthy fat to add to your diet.
Coconut – Delivers monounsaturated fats, the good fats that your body needs to keep you feeling full and to raise the “good” fats level in your body.
Almonds – High in protein, these help fill you up and are a great refuel option post-workout. Almonds also offer beneficial healthy fats.
Hemp Hearts/Hemp Oil – Filled with Omega fatty acids, protein and fiber, hemp hearts really are the trifecta of a superfood. Both the hearts and oil offer all of these health benefits!
Flaxseeds – High in fiber and Omega 3 Fatty Acids, flaxseeds are great for aiding in digestion and boosting your levels of “good” cholesterol.
Cinnamon – This at anti-inflammatory spice also acts as an anti-bacterial agent in the body, boosting the immune system and helping to prevent blood clots.
Turmeric – Best known for its anti-inflammatory properties, this spice is also very good for the liver, helping detox it of toxins, so it can work more efficiently.
Himalayan Salt – Contains 84 natural elements and minerals, which among other things, help in cardiovascular health, improve bone strength and aid in digestion.
I don’t think you need any more reasons to whip up this butter and enjoy it today. Whether it’s by the spoonful, or you can practice restraint, it has lots of good stuff going on and you don’t want to miss out. Don’t worry, I didn’t!
