An alleged scandalous video involving child actress Andrea Brillantes is going viral online. Netizens were shocked and in disbelief as the news broke out, for the simple reason that Andrea is just 12 years old.
On its Twitter account, Star Magic Philippines tweeted the following:
“Rumors about Andrea Brillantes is NOT TRUE! Stop spreading false information. Please RT.”
People are now appealing to netizens not to spread the video out of respect to Andrea and to spare the child from further embarassment.
Fans and followers of Andrea urged netizens to respect the child using the hashtag #RESPECTANDREABRILLANTES.
Andrea started her career as a main cast of “Going Bulilit”. Andrea became a house hold name because of “Annaliza”. Andrea plays Daniel Padilla’s younger sister in “Pangako Sa’yo” Re-make.
Netizens are reminded of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act – AN ACT PROVIDING FOR STRONGER DETERRENCE AND SPECIAL PROTECTION AGAINST CHILD ABUSE, EXPLOITATION AND DISCRIMINATION, AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
Section 9. Obscene Publications and Indecent Shows. – Any person who shall hire, employ, use, persuade, induce or coerce a child to perform in obscene exhibitions and indecent shows, whether live or in video, or model in obscene publications or pornographic materials or to sell or distribute the said materials shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its medium period.
If the child used as a performer, subject or seller/distributor is below twelve (12) years of age, the penalty shall be imposed in its maximum period.
Any ascendant, guardian, or person entrusted in any capacity with the care of a child who shall cause and/or allow such child to be employed or to participate in an obscene play, scene, act, movie or show or in any other acts covered by this section shall suffer the penalty of prision mayor in its medium period.
Another is Republic Act No. 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009:
Taking a photo or video coverage of a person or group of persons performing sexual act. It includes capturing an image of a person’s private parts.
Reproduction, copying, selling, or distribution of the photo or video of sexual act.
Publishing, broadcasting, showing or exhibiting the photo or video of sexual act.
