Choate Rosemary Hall seeks a full-time Director of Financial Aid and Associate Director of Admission, a 46-week administrative faculty position reporting to the Director of Admission. In addition to Associate Director duties, the Director of Financial Aid assumes overall responsibility for the administration of the financial aid program at Choate.

1.   To fulfill these responsibilities the Director of Financial Aid:

conducts interviews with prospective candidates.

reads, reviews, and evaluates candidates for admission.

travels on behalf of the school and represents the school at receptions, fairs, and events.

conducts information sessions or presentations for prospective families.

assists with orchestration of on-campus programs: Open House, Spring Visits, etc.

in concert with other departments, coordinates candidate recruitment.

collaborates with the Director of Admission and school leadership to provide vision, strategic planning, and guidance for the financial aid program.

coordinates with the finance office to establish a financial aid budget for the year.

articulates to prospective families the school's financial aid application requirements and deadlines.

calculates financial need for new and returning families that is consistent with school financial aid methodology.

provides advice to families considering tuition payment plans and programs offered by the school and beyond.

develops a working relationship with families of currently enrolled students who receive or might need financial assistance.

with the Director of Admission, appoints and leads the Financial Aid Committee in developing and monitoring policies and practices.

coordinates with the Financial Aid Assistant and the office manager to manage the financial aid application process.

provides specific recruiting mission for the admission committee based upon the needs of our restricted scholarships.

oversees matching of the school's endowed scholarships.

meets with students receiving financial assistance to inquire about their overall Choate experience and to ensure they are properly equipped with what they need to succeed.

liaises throughout the year with the faculty advisers to the various scholarship programs.

oversees various "need plus" scholarship programs (Choate Scholars, Andrew B. Noel III Wallingford Scholarship, Paul Mellon Scholarship, Prep-9 Scholarship).

2.   Overall supervision of the Office of Financial Aid.

3.   The Director of Financial Aid sits on the Financial Aid Committee; the Director also attends Finance Committee meetings of the Board of Trustees as appropriate.

4.   The Director of Financial Aid takes on other duties as assigned by the Headmaster or Director of Admission.

Starting Date -- July 1, 2015

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred

At least five years of administrative and leadership experience in admission, financial aid, and enrollment management at the secondary or collegiate level

Knowledge of and experience with productivity suites such as Apple's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote; Microsoft Office; and Google Apps for Education

Proven track record as a highly collaborative individual with strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills

Familiarity with the independent school world preferred

Appropriate background checks are required
