We had a wonderful time with friends at the annual Macy’s Flower Show in Minneapolis this past Sunday. This year’s theme: The Secret Garden. I love this spring tradition of ours, and I love how there can still be snow on the ground in April, but as soon as you exit the elevator on Macy’s 8th floor you can smell spring. Oodles of beautiful, colorful, fragrant flowers never fail to delight.
We’ve enjoyed the always awesome Good Earth Restaurant for lunch these past couple weekends… The Good Earth Burger and the tropical spinach salad are over the top yummy… I had the bison burger topped with feta. Jeff always orders the Thai Chicken Pita Pizza. They serve TeaSource tea, which makes me happy. I’m loving the iced mango green.
We finally hung our coo coo clock on the wall in our dining room. I think it’s adorable. It was a recent gift from my grandparents, and it reminds me of visiting them when I was a little girl. There’s a debate going on in our house as to if we will actually wind the clock and use it as a time piece. Jeff doesn’t want to be woken up every hour of the night by a cooing clock. I told him he’d get use to it, but I don’t think he believes me. Hmmmmm….. So, for now, it’s just a decoration.
I rewatched one of my favorite movies, Amelie, while preparing a French potato cake for our dinner last week. The last time I watched this movie I was also in the kitchen, and that time I made a plum cake and named it after the main character. Have you seen this movie? Do you love it? It’s one of my go-to “feel good” movies on a grey day. So pretty… and the music is swoonworthy.
Gracie and I have been having fun knitting and crocheting cup cozies while we watch TV in the evening. Mine is the blue, white and green one, and her’s is the funky one in Rasta colors.
I found an old cookbook that I recognized while browsing the shelves of a local bookstore. At first I thought it was one that my parents owned, but my mom said she thinks she remembers one of my aunts owning the book. It’s so cool, and full of fun, healthy recipes along with bizarre musings. I have several pages marked with little post it’s, which is how I know which recipes I want to try in the book. I have about 300 cookbooks and almost all of them are marked this way. Do you do this? There is no way I’ll get through all of these recipes in my life time. I know this, yet I continue to stick post-its in cookbooks. What in the world?….
Anyhoo… I hope you’re all enjoying spring so far. What’s the weather like in your neck of the woods?
XO,
~Melissa
