Man kills girlfriend over arranged marriage, investigators say
LAKE WORTH, Fla. —A Lake Worth man is facing first-degree murder charges in the death of his girlfriend on Dec. 31. Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office were called to investigate after a grandmother reported that she had not heard from her granddaughter, Lauren White, since New Year's Eve. The woman told authorities that White lived in apartment with her boyfriend, Yusef Jamal Green, 37, of Lake Worth. Deputies entered the home through an open window and found blood splattered on the floor and walls and White wrapped in a sheet, bedding covers, pillows and a rug behind the living-room couch. The medical examiner determined that White died of a laceration to her neck. Investigators found candles, air fresheners, an open bottle of Clorox bleach and cleaning solution around the apartment, which they said were used in an attempt to conceal the odor of the decomposing body. A notebook entry was found in the bedroom saying that White was unfaithful in their relationship. White's grandmother told deputies that despite being in a relationship with Green,White was married to a Romanian man, identified as Alexandru Nicolae. She said the arranged marriage was a business deal for Nicolae to become an American citizen. White was being paid $500 a month by Nicolae for the deal, the report said. Her relationship with Nicolae was kept a secret from Green, according to her grandmother. - (Black-on-white)

Under Fire For Not Voting Or Going To His Office, Philly’s City Commission Chair Keeps His Job
PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia City Commission re-elected its current chairman, at a meeting this morning, despite a barrage of criticism about his failure to vote or spend time in his office. The vote was a bit of a surprise because the newly elected Lisa Deeley was expected to get the position. Parents of Toddler Found Wandering Barefoot in LOVE Park Face Eviction
After raising money to provide housing for the homeless parents of a toddler who was found wandering barefoot in LOVE Park last year, a Philadelphia ministry is close to evicting the couple. “This couple doesn’t want change,” said Brian Jenkins of CHOSEN 300. “What they want is a free ride. And we’re all out of free rides. We’re interested in providing avenues to people that want to try to get up.” Last October Mike Jones’ and Angelique Roland’s 2-year-old son Jeremiah was found wandering alone and barefoot in LOVE Park. Jones and Roland told police they had been kicked out of a home and had spent the night in a cardboard box near LOVE Park’s visitor’s center and Jeremiah had wandered off while they were sleeping. Jeremiah as well as his 4-year-old sister were then placed in DHS custody. After an outpouring of support from the public, CHOSEN 300, an inter-denominational Christian ministry that helps the homeless, launched a campaign to raise $12,000 to secure housing for the couple for one year. Yet barely 11 weeks into the lease, the group announced they had to end the commitment and evict the couple.

Illegal Alien: ‘Demons in His Head’ Made Him Murder Girlfriend in Florida Forest
An illegal immigrant, who told police that “demons in his head” ordered him to kill his girlfriend, was arrested for her murder, authorities in Florida report. Marco Perez, a Guatemalan national living in the U.S. illegally, was arrested for the murder of 25-year-old Idelcira Perez, whose body was found in a patch of woodlands off Apalachee Parkway in Tallahassee, Florida. Police were alerted to the murder by the suspect himself who called police, telling them the woman was dead. The suspect initially told police that two armed, masked men forced him at gunpoint to beat his girlfriend and then bury her in the woods. Perez then led officers to the woman’s body. But the illegal immigrant’s story quickly fell apart when he then admitted to police that the two masked men “were actually demons in his head telling him what to do,” according to court documents. Eventually Perez admitted that he and the woman got in an argument about his infidelities, and he began punching her in the face. He said he dragged her into the woods and continued beating her until she stopped moving. He then tried to cover her body with tree limbs and leaves.

Sheriff: 'We strongly believe we have found the remains of (little White boy) Lonzie Barton' - (kidnaped, murdered by black boyfriend)
A day that was supposed to have a jury selected in the trial of William Ruben Ebron Jr. took a monumental turn with police believing they have found the remains of toddler Lonzie Barton after being led by Ebron to an area around Florida 9B and Philips Highway. “We strongly believe we have found the remains of Lonzie Barton,” Sheriff Mike Williams said Monday afternoon in front of a church near the search scene. It is now unclear if Ebron or Lonzie’s mother, Lonna Lauramore Barton, will face additional charges in the toddler’s death. Jacksonville police began a search Sunday night following new information from Ebron that led detectives to an area about 8 miles south of Old Kings Road where he and Lauramore Barton lived at Ravenwood Apartments. He said the child was “treated like a piece of trash. That’s just wrong.” Lauramore Barton’s estranged husband, Christopher Barton, who is in jail there on drug charges and who police have said is Lonzie’s father, had to be taken to the jail’s medical unit after being informed of the developments. Lauramore Barton, who pleaded guilty to child neglect and lying to police, testified that Ebron was dealing drugs every day that she was in a relationship with him. She also acknowledged leaving Lonzie and her 5-year-old daughter in Ebron’s care while she worked as a dancer at Wacko’s on Emerson Street. - (Black-on-white)

Black-robed Federal Supreme Court saves brutal black murderer of White female restaurant manager from death sentence

Supreme Court rules Florida death penalty sentencing is unconstitutional because it "gives judges too much power"
The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that Florida's system for sentencing people to death is unconstitutional because it gives too much power to judges — and not enough to juries — to decide capital sentences. The 8-1 ruling said the state's sentencing procedure is flawed because juries play only an advisory role in recommending death while the judge can reach a different decision. The court sided with Timothy Lee Hurst, who was convicted of the 1998 murder of his manager at a Popeye's restaurant in Pensacola. A jury divided 7-5 in favor of death, but a judge imposed the sentence. - (Black-on-white)
