A Pennsylvania woman has been charged with making a false police report Tuesday in northwest suburban Schaumburg.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of East Algonquin Road for a report of a battery and criminal sexual assault that was alleged to have happened somewhere on Creek Bend Road, according to a statement from Schaumburg police. There were two 911 calls about the incident, one from someone not involved in the incident and one from the alleged female victim.

The woman who reported the incident, 20-year-old Lauren Ryan, informed officers of her alleged attacker and when officers spotted the 33-year-old man in a nearby restaurant, he ran away, police said.

The 33-year-old man was eventually apprehended near a pond with tall grass, south of Algonquin Road between Roselle Road and Palmer Drive, police said. Schaumburg police were assisted by officers from Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Illinois State Police, the Cook County sheriff’s office and the Cook County Forest Preserve.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the woman’s original report of battery and criminal sexual assault was false, police said.

Ryan, who lives in York, Pennsylvania, was subsequently charged with false report of offense, a Class 4 felony, and disorderly conduct, police said. She was scheduled to appear in bond court Thursday.

The 33-year-old man, from Rolling Meadows, was cited with trespassing, police said. He has been released from the Schaumburg Police Department.
