Hulme Hall Grammar School pupils are celebrating becoming finalists of the prestigious Independent Schools Association National Athletics Championships at the Birmingham Alexander Athletics Stadium recently, after excelling in the regional track and field heats.

The outstanding success of the pupils led Rocco Zaman-Browne (13), from Marple, to finish the 800M race as a silver medallist, while his fellow team mate Emily Plevin (15), from Mottram, competed in the Discus event, both representing the ISA North squad.

Rocco Zaman-Browne added: “Winning the silver medal at the championships is a memory I will certainly keep with me from my time at Hulme Hall. My family came along to cheer me on it was a great occasion.”

Emily Plevin said: “I was honoured to represent my school on a national level, there was a great atmosphere on the day with some tough competitors.”

The Cheadle school’s Head Teacher, Rachael Allen, commented: “At Hulme Hall Grammar School we are remarkably proud of Emily and Rocco’s achievements representing the school and the region in what is a highly prestigious event in the ISA sports calendar.”
