What do luxury Bentley cars, bread and butter, and medicines have in common? They’re all manufactured in Cheshire and will be showcased as part of Cheshire and Warrington Manufacturing Week (30 September to 4 October).

The week-long event – organised by The Manufacturing Institute – will shine the spotlight on Cheshire and Warrington’s successful manufacturing sector.

During the week, local manufacturing businesses will be invited to see best practice in action through free factory tours at Bentley;  fast growing bakery Frank Roberts & Sons, and the UK’s largest independent dairy Meadow Foods.

AstraZeneca and other local manufacturing businesses will take a manufacturing roadshow to schools and colleges across the county -  showcasing  the variety of exciting career options available within the manufacturing sector.

“Manufacturing makes the biggest contribution to economic output in Cheshire and Warrington”, said Dr Julie Madigan,(pictured) Chief Executive of The Manufacturing Institute. “This event will inspire and educate the local manufacturing community.

“It will  provide some of the  ideas, tools and support they require to fulfil ambitious growth plans and make their businesses even stronger. The recent resurgence of UK manufacturing is evident in Cheshire and Warrington, where almost 22,000 people work in  more than 1,000 businesses.”

During the week, the Manufacturing Institute will launch its Manufacturing Growth Programme,  which is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). It is led by industry experts from leading businesses such as Jaguar, Rolls-Royce and  Powertrain.  Through bespoke in-company support and peer-to-peer learning,  the Growth Programme  provides business leaders with the skills and tools needed to generate higher profits and sales, while improving customer value.

Cheshire Manufacturing Week is being organised by The Manufacturing Institute, with support from industry partners, together with: Cheshire East Council, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire and Warrington LEP, Marketing Cheshire, Mersey Dee Alliance, Nat West,  The Institution of Chemical Engineers and Warrington &Co.
