Muslims Are the True Feminists

With a title like that, can you honestly say this isn’t going to be an interesting read?

So what? Regressive, sexist, over-sensitive, oppressive censorious ninnies? Yeah, I think I actually agree, m8.

By Gabby Aossey

As American women, many of us have an idea of what feminists are; freelancing women with all the sexual freedom in the world.

Your image of feminists are very different than mine. Mine tend to have My Little Pony hair, need trigger warnings, and seem to have a taste for horn rimmed glasses.

But to each their own.

But this is exactly the problem with American feminism; it is all about sex and the liberation of our bodies.

I can think of a million reasons why feminism, especially in the west, is shit, but those are not one of them. To be honest, feminists are far too sexually regressive when it comes to anything that isn’t them and their own bodies specifically. Hence the whole “debate” about sexy video game characters and whatnot.

Certainly, things like abortion and contraception is a part of that freedom, but in today’s society the fight has taken on a much different tone.

I’d agree, but this little snippet is probably the only place I will agree on.

Hip Feminist campaigns like Free the Nipple only encourage a gullible behavior of disrespect for our own bodies, leading to everyone else around us disrespecting our bodies as well.

Let me guess? It encourages…. the male gaze? *gasp!*

If we want to be respected as women and taken seriously in all our endeavors we should look to a new source; Muslim women. Muslim women, as well as Muslim men, see every body as a sacred temple, especially the female body.

And they will desecrate that temple if you’re a homosexual, apostate, anyone from a differing religion or none at all, etc. And though the female body is a beautiful temple, there’s always room for improvements. I’m assuming cutting off the clitoris is just the anatomical version of a lil’ home improvement.

Opposed to exposing themselves, it is through modesty. When we think of modern feminists we should stray away from the new American trends and start looking to what we have always thought as a contradiction; Muslim feminists.

Wouldn’t the purpose of a temple be to be seen? Like churches are usually fancy places, and that includes mosques as well. Sultan Ahmed Mosque aka The Blue Mosque in Istanbul is a very extravagant building. To equate it with the way Islam treats women would be to cover the whole thing in one giant sheet.

Contrary to American popular belief, Islam has a culture and history of women empowerment. In the Qur’an, which is believed to be God’s word told to Prophet Muhammad, women and men are described as equals in everyday actions and responsibilities. When it comes to family, charity, children, sex, and much more, a man and a woman have the same duties and that is to continue on the straight path.

Well let’s just see.

2:223 Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will, and send (good deeds) before you for your souls, and fear Allah, and know that ye will (one day) meet Him. Give glad tidings to believers, (O Muhammad).

Women are basically penis sheaths. Alright, very feminist. Much empowerment.

2:228 Women who are divorced shall wait, keeping themselves apart, three (monthly) courses. And it is not lawful for them that they should conceal that which Allah hath created in their wombs if they are believers in Allah and the Last Day. And their husbands would do better to take them back in that case if they desire a reconciliation. And they (women) have rights similar to those (of men) over them in kindness, and men are a degree above them. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

Talk about straying from sexual liberation, eh m8s? Remember, bitches, no sex for three months after a divorce. And of course the second part of that must be that incredible equality Gabby was talking about.

2:282 But if he who oweth the debt is of low understanding, or weak, or unable himself to dictate, then let the guardian of his interests dictate in (terms of) equity. And call two witness from among your men, two witnesses. And if two men be not at hand, then a man and two women, of such as ye approve as witnesses

I know feminists probably aren’t very good at math, but that verse is basically saying that a man is worth two women in judgemental value. But hey, I’m sure somehow someone will pull a brand spanking new interpretation out of their ass to justify that.

4:15 As for those of your women who are guilty of lewdness, call to witness four of you against them. And if they testify (to the truth of the allegation) then confine them to the houses until death take them or (until) Allah appoint for them a way (through new legislation).

I can see why you’re against FreeTheNipple. Those bitches ain’t gonna be allowed to leave the house under Islam.

So I guess you kind of see the point of all this by now. And if you don’t, the very Quran this person is touting as a bastion of gender equality is anything but. Some illiterate war mongering creep over a thousand years ago picking and choosing texts and morals from other religions (especially Abrahamic ones) came up with a book that doesn’t promote egalitarianism? Who would have thought!

Early Islamic women kept this idea alive. The first Muslim woman was Khadija, Mohammed’s first wife. Without her influence, Islam might not have emerged as successfully as it did. Khadija was a business woman and a land owner in the lands of Arabia. When Mohammed was given revelations, it was Khadija that ensured him that he was not going insane, but that he was a chosen one. It was Khadija that pushed Mohammed to listen to God and the angels that were trying to communicate with him and to not run in fear. It was Khadija that gave Muhammad the support and confidence in his development as becoming God’s last prophet. Khadija, a woman, was the strength that allowed Islam to fully bloom. Just this one example gives us a view on how true Muslim women are; outspoken, driven, certain and courageous, the epitome of a feminist.

Are you ever gonna talk about the 9 year old? Because though Khadija was his first wife, it wasn’t his favorite. His favorite was the loli, that fucking weeb.

But you are right that she was largely responsible for clearing up some of Muhammad’s theological issues.

So it’s no surprise to see Muslim woman today modeling themselves after these prominent female figures.

You say “these” as if there’s more of them. You listed one.

Muslim girls look towards these instances of strength for guidance in this scary, patriarchal society.

And boy do they need it. They might be in the society where if you’re raped, unless you have enough male witnesses, your claims are automatically discounted and you could face getting stoned to death for being a dirty slut.

These modern women are not afraid to go against the grain in the name of their belief like wearing the hijab to covey their religious devotion. Hijab is the headscarf that is worn by Muslim woman and no; it is not supposed to be forced on them by their fathers and husbands. Wearing or not wearing the Hijab reflects a Muslim woman’s own a personal choice.

Yeah, in modern society. Try saying that in Saudi Arabia and see how far you get. I love it when these muslims try to claim they have all the freedoms in the world and never realize the reason they have these freedoms is because they live in a society not dominated by Islam. Our laws aren’t grounded in scripture but secular values which is why you’re not going to be punished for choosing what to wear.

For me, this idea especially showcases feminism in America. With all of the pressures in our American society to have a certain physical allure; to have long, luscious hair, a skinny yet curvy body, flawless facial beauty, woman go through hell. With this, we succumb to the pressures that we generally think we are free of; we oppress our natural womanhood with constant worry about how we look to others around us. We do not have the courage to stand up to this societal critique and say ‘my body is not to be ogled at’.

The best way to overcome societal expectations and not believe that you’re an object for the sole purpose of being looked upon is to just live your life and not give a shit what others think. Yet feminists like you insist that everyone else is in the wrong because they themselves are subconscious of themselves. If you truly didn’t care, you’d live and let live.

And what if it is a woman’s choice to be as flashy and sexy as possible? What if, now just reason with me here a little bit, what if some women like looking good and enjoy the attention it gets?

What if they see that as a confidence booster? What if they enjoy showing skin because they see their bodies as temples and believe the body is something to be revered and appreciated?

The difference between a secular society and an Islamic one is that both you and those women have a choice. You can cover yourself head to toe and only have to face people giving you funny looks while she can show a bunch of skin and have to face the same thing. In an Islamic society, you’d have no choice in the matter and she’d probably be raped or dead by now.

I defy you, lady. I defy you to go to an Islamic country and where the Quran is the source of laws and Islam is king and try playing the part of the woman who wants to show skin. Do it for a day, and see how far you get. I can assure you, it won’t be fun.

For many Muslim women however, they strive to achieve just that. In this way, they liberate themselves from these everyday pressures. They actually have the courage to say hey, I am not an object of pleasure, I am a woman that commands only respect for who I am and not how I look.

And I’m a man who wants a beer and a soda, in that order. If I were your husband, you’d be obligated to obligated to follow my instructions.

4:34 Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them. Then if they obey you, seek not a way against them. Lo! Allah is ever High, Exalted, Great.

: )

They have the power to self-liberate as well as the courage to diverge from the American norms.

Psst, hey, I wonder why they have that power? Might it be because in this country you have a freedom of choice within religions? Can you point me to any women in Islamic countries that have the same freedoms?

And they do not get attention from showing off their figure, but they get attention by how they present themselves. Muslim woman get respect and are looked at beyond aesthetics; they are actually taken seriously in their communities.

I mean, got to respect the ones that are worth three whole cows AND a chicken. That’s mighty fine property women.

Isn’t this what feminism should be?

What feminism should be is promoting egalitarian values. The reason so many people say feminism is no longer needed in the west is because we were able to achieve just that and now making every issue a gendered one is counter productive.

Islam promotes anything but.

Don’t women deserve consistent respect and to actually be listened to without drools or criticisms over our bodies and looks?

If you think women aren’t listened to simply because of their looks, you have a very skewed picture of reality. What fucking Joseph Merrick do you look like that you have to cover yourself up so much just to get people to listen to what you have to say?

I believe the answer is yes. In the Muslim-American community, and even in parts of the greater Muslim world, modest woman, whether they wear hijab or not, are respected and called upon, despite what our mainstream media feeds to us.

For example, if someone need one of those exquisite loli blowjobs, he knows which of his wives to call.

A few weeks ago I went to a lecture about feminism- in Islam.

Imagine an endless log of shit falling into a bottomless pit of diarrhea.

That is what got all these thoughts stirring in my head once again. The lecturer was a Muslim woman in hijab; she spoke so passionately that every person in the room, guy and girl, had no choice but to immerse themselves in her words. After a quick hour and a half, I could not help but think about all our Free the Nipple group representing a trendy feminism and how some trends need to die. I realized we have been conditioned to think that American women are the free and that Muslim women are the suppressed, but this is twisted to me. I finally understood who is really oppressed by a patriarchal society and it is us. Woman who wear hijab have freed themselves from a man’s and a society’s judgmental gaze; the Free the Nipplers have not. They have fallen deep into the man’s world, believing that this trend will garner respect.

That’s great. But unless you can get another woman to say the exact same thing, your words simply aren’t at all equal to mine.

So I urge my Free the Nipple gal pals to take a look at your Muslim sisters and collaborate with them to create a feminism that treats the female body as a temple and not as a toy. Let us see feminism in a different light—through modesty and the courage to savor our sugar. Let us call on the Muslim feminists of the world.

I tried calling upon them, but their men didn’t feel like going out of the house so they had to stay home too.

I’m no fan of feminism in the west, and I’m no fan of Islam, and the reason for both are because they discourage personal autonomy. What people should do with their lives should be their own choice, but with that, everyone else is free to judge them and carry out their own lives complete with the judgement that would bring to them.

To say that Islam and women’s rights is compatible is such an utterly dishonest statement,  I’d wonder if there’s any part in the Quran allowing muslims to willingly lie to non believers for the sake of quick conversions (there is). This person lambasts Western society, America in particular, for its treatment in women, but I’ve yet to hear about a British girl defying the Parliament by getting an education, and then having a radical Britton throw acid on her face.

Whatever struggles women face in the west is not comparable to what they face in the East. It’s a place where women aren’t allowed to leave the house without a male guardian: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-09-27/saudi-women-file-petition-to-end-male-guardianship-system/7880196 where having sex with children is allowed because “It’s just culture” http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11261021/Bristol-child-sex-gang-seven-Somali-men-jailed-for-grooming-and-raping-underage-girls.html

It’s not good for women, it’s not good for anyone. And you want to condemn the west for its treatment of women? I am not the one to claim that people with legitimate issues with their country should just leave, but sincerely, do go to a Muslim country. Do go to a place where you won’t be allowed to drive, leave the house on your own, get an education, have a fair trial in the event of a sexual assault, and so much more. Do enjoy the luxury of life brought by the vast feminist bastion otherwise known as Islam.
