From The Virginian-Pilot:  Updated list of Hampton Roads snow closures  Updated 2:20pm Wednesday

These announcements apply to THURSDAY, Jan. 23:

The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News will open at 10 a.m. (a one-hour delay) on Thursday.

Elmwood Cemetery volunteer workday canceled Thursday in Norfolk. The next volunteer workday is Jan. 30.

Norfolk Education Foundation T.I.E. Awards, postponed from Thursday, Jan. 23, to Feb. 20.

Schools

Chesapeake Public Schools, closed today.

Christopher Newport University, open at noon today.

Eastern Virginia Medical School, closed today.

Franklin City Public Schools, operating on a two-hour delay today.

Gloucester County schools, closed today.

Hampton City Schools has canceled classes. High school exams scheduled for today have been rescheduled to Friday, according to a schedule that can be found on the schools' website.

Hampton University, open at 10 a.m. today.

Isle of Wight County schools, closed today.

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, classes canceled today.

Newport News Public Schools, classes canceled.

Norfolk Public Schools, classes canceled. Essential personnel should report two hours late.

Norfolk State University, classes and events canceled today. Only essential personnel should report for work.

Northampton County public schools, closed today.

Old Dominion University, closed today.

Poquoson City Public Schools, closed today. Essential personnel should report at 10 a.m.

Portsmouth Public Schools, classes canceled.

Suffolk Public Schools, closed today.  Exams originally scheduled for today are rescheduled for Monday. Monday will remain an early dismissal day for all students.

Thomas Nelson Community College's campuses in Hampton and Williamsburg, closed today along with the Southest Higher Education Center.

Tidewater Community College, closed today.

Virginia Beach City Public Schools, closed today.

Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, classes canceled. Administrative offices open two-hours late. SERT employees and 12-month employees will report two hours late. Liberal leave is in effect.

York County School Division has closed schools and offices. Essential personnel will be contacted by supervisors if they are required to report. Exams scheduled for today will be given the first day students return to school. Friday will remain as a student/teacher holiday and Monday will remain as the student holiday and regional staff development day.

The College William & Mary, open at noon today.

Military Installations

Fort Eustis will be on a two-hour delayed status. Employees who can't get to work can take unscheduled or liberal leave and must notify their superiors. Mission essential personnel should report to work on time.

Langley Air Force Base will open two hours late. Mission essential personnel should report for duty on time today. The King Street Gate is scheduled to reopen at 7 a.m. today.

The 633rd Medical Group's first two hours of appointments today are canceled.

Hampton Roads Navy Installations are on delay. All non-essential personnel should report at 10 a.m. All essential personnel should report on time. This includes the Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek/Fort Story; Oceana Naval Air Station; Norfolk Naval Station; Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads; Naval Weapons Station Yorktown; Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Portsmouth Naval Medical Center will have a two-hour delay in reporting to work for all non-essential personnel. Essential personnel are to report on time. Liberal leave is authorized. The Emergency Room, inpatients and outpatient clinics at the main hospital will maintain a normal schedule. Patients scheduled for surgery today should report on time. Patients worried about driving conditions may call their clinic and reschedule their appointment. Branch clinics will follow the schedule of the base they serve, however, a small staff will be onsite to care for patients before the branch clinic is fully staffed.

Government and Community

Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge is closed today.

Chesapeake city offices will open at 10 a.m. today. Residents who have business with the courts today should call the individual court before heading out the door.

Trash and recycling should be placed at the curb today and left there until it is collected. Crews will make collections as close to normal as conditions permit.

All Chesapeake public libraries and community centers will close at 6 p.m.

The d'ART Center classes are canceled this morning.

The Muse Writers Center postponed its reading at La Bella today until 7 p.m. Jan. 29 at the same location.

Hampton Roads Transit will operate on its regular schedule but riders should expect delays.

James City County offices and facilities will open at 10 a.m.

The Mariners Museum will be closed to the public today.

Norfolk city offices will be closed today.

Offices of the City Treasurer, Commissioner of Revenue, General District and Circuit Court also are closed.

Regular trash collection and recycling canceled today. Trash collection rescheduled to Saturday, Jan. 25.

Bulk waste and yard waste pickups are canceled for the remainder of the week. Those pickups will resume during normal scheduled days next week.

Opportunity Inc. : the one-stop workforce centers in Norfolk, Franklin and Suffolk will be closed along with the Youth Career Center of Hampton Roads in Pembroke Mall and the Opportunity Inc. Downtown Norfolk Corporate Office.

Peninsula Fine Arts Center in Newport News has canceled its classes today. The galleries and shop are closed through Saturday in order to change exhibitions.

Portsmouth: City offices are closed.

The HRT hearing at TCC-Portsmouth on proposed fare increases scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed. A new date will be set and announced later this week.

Trash, bulk and recycling collection for today has been cancelled. There will be no make-up day.

The Portsmouth museums are closed today.

Suffolk: City offices will open on a two-hour delay today.

The Toddler Time programs at the North Suffolk Library and Morgan Memorial Library scheduled for this morning have been cancelled.

The East Suffolk Recreation Center will close at 5 p.m.

The North Suffolk Library will close at 5:30 p.m.

Virginia Beach city offices and facilities will delay opening until 10 a.m. Alpha I employees should report to their assigned work sites as scheduled, or contact their supervisors for further information on reporting responsibilities. Alpha II employees should report beginning at 10 a.m. or at their scheduled time thereafter. Employees may request leave approval from their supervisors for the remainder of the day.

Trash pickup is canceled for today. Residents are asked to place black trash carts and blue recycling carts at the curb line on their regular collection day, and leave them there until they have been emptied. Yard debris collection has been suspended for today and Thursday. Requests for bulky item collection will be re-scheduled for next week.

The Virginia Beach historic houses -  the Adam Thoroughgood House, the Francis Land House and the Lynnhaven House - will be closed today.

The Joint Use Library off Rosemont Road, on TCC’s Virginia Beach campus, will be closed today.  The 9:30 a.m. storytimes at all Virginia Beach libraries have been canceled.

All city community recreation centers, public libraries (except for the Joint-Use Library at TCC) and the Virginia Aquarium & Marine Science Center will open at noon today.

The Sandler Center Box Office at 201 Market St. will open at 11 a.m. today.

The Virginia Living Museum in Newport News is closed today.

Virginia Port Authority will open truck gates and empty container yards at 8 a.m., two hours late. Rail operations will follow the same schedule. There will be no vessel operations before 1 p.m. Essential terminal operations personnel will report to work as normal and non-essential personnel will report to their offices at noon.

The Virginia Zoo will be closed today.
