Ask CHCACT!

“Ask CHCACT” features Outreach & Enrollment and other questions from health center staff, answered by your favorite CHCACT staff members! Send your questions to ask@chcact.org!

Deb Polun answers this week’s question:

Q: Are people aware of and using the free preventive services available under HUSKY and commercial insurance since the implementation of the Affordable Care Act?

A: Unfortunately, many people are not. A recent survey of Connecticut residents showed that many people are not accessing preventive services, like mammograms and diabetes screenings – and of those who didn’t get screenings, many were worried about cost. As a reminder, adults and children can access many preventive care like well visits and screenings at no cost. Here is the list.

So, after you have enrolled consumers in HUSKY or an Access Health CT plan, it’s a great idea to remind them of the benefits available. Most are provided at health centers across the state!
