A Fun Filled Staycation at Dorsett Grand Subang with a Trip to Kidzania!

I am always looking for somethings to do with my little one. Spending time with him is pretty precious to me as little ones grow up so fast. To spend quality time with little ones, there’s so much one can do. I love a quick and short getaway at times so I can really spend some alone time with my family.

For a short and sweet staycation over the weekend, head on over to Dorsett Grand Subang for the Kids Stay & Dine for Freepromotion. This promotion lets your little ones spend a fun-filled time at the hotel as the hotel is kid’s friendly and offers little ones activities as well as free dining when parents booked the package and dine at their restaurants. Besides the hotel, the promotion also offers discounts on Kidzania tickets as well as Sunway Lagoon tickets.

We checked in on one fine Saturday afternoon over a weekend recently. The hotel is located in a bustling and strategic area in Subang in SS12. The 478 rooms and suites hotel also has four dining bar and restaurants. Besides being near to the Subang Jaya Medical Centre, Dorsett Grand Subang also offers Complimentary Shuttle Services to the nearest Subang shopping malls.

Our Kids Stay & Dine for Freepackage offers the Deluxe Room that comes with breakfast and other free goodies for kids below the age of 12 years old. As we checked into our room, my little one jump in glee at sight.

Sitting on the bed was the hotel’s super cute Dorsett Bear with a Dorsett printed bag and Faber-Castell Watercolour Pencils. No wonder he jumped for joy… it’s really a treat for little ones with such thoughtful kid’s pack as a surprise for them.

We opted for a king sized bed and since my little one was joining us, the package also included an additional bed thrown in at no cost for him. The room was pretty spacious and there was even a lounge chair in the room.

The extra bed even comes with extra bathroom amenities for my little one.

Well-designed, the room included a modern work space with wireless internet access as well as the usual phone and outlet adaptors for our gadgets. There was also the 32-inch built-in LCD TV with a slim shelving unit with some storage space.

The king bed was plush and utterly comfortable with large fluffy pillows. I have stayed in quite a few Dorsett hotels in various location around the world and all their beds have been very comfortable. Some even offer various types of pillows to choose from.

While there was also the usual bathrobes for adults, I also spied a smaller bathrobe for my little one with kid’s bedroom slipper too. Again, my little one felt such pleasure to be able to have his own bathrobe and bedroom slippers since many hotels do not offer such amenities for little ones.

Other usual room amenities included safe deposit box, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, minibar, coffee & tea facility, laundry service pack and alarm clock.

One can actually view the bathroom through the glass wall but there is also the option of having the electric shower blind down to have privacy. Else I could let my little one enjoy the long bathtub while I rest on my bed.

The bathroom is also pretty spacious and comes with the usual bathroom amenities of towels, shower gel, shampoo, condition, lotion, toothbrush and more. A short little stool was provided for little ones in case they cannot reach the basin.

And then I saw these cute little yellow duckies sitting by the bathtub… even my little one didn’t hesitate to play with them in the shower happily despite being a seven-year old!

The view from our room was filled with greenery and sights of the city. While it seems mundane at day, the night view was filled with lots of glittery lights glowing against the dark night beautifully.

After a quick rest, we decided to head down to the pool for a leisure swim. The pool was huge. Surrounded by lots of greenery, there was certainly plenty of shades to relax by the pool. Besides the regular pool, there is a kid’s pool too for little ones.

Of course my little one couldn’t wait to jump right in…

After taking some photos, I took this chance to put up my feet by the pool with a book while he swam with his dad.

Located next the pool is the Clark Hatch Fitness Center. We took a quick peek inside and found the gym to be nicely equipped with lots of fitness machines as well as instructor.

A quick shower and then it was time to head down to dinner. Dorsett Grand Subang has four dining spots and we passed The Piano Lounge and Café Aroma on the way to our dinner venue at Terazza Brasserie.

With the Kids Stay & Dine for FreePackage, two of your little ones (below 12 years old) get to dine for free with every 2 paying adults at the Barbeque Delight Buffet at Terazza Brasserie. Same goes for The Emperor’s Dim Sum Brunch on Sunday.

Terazza Brasserie is the hotel’s all-day-dining restaurant featuring breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets as well as some ala carte menu. After a wonderful meal, we turn in earlier for the day in our cozy room, all changed into our bathrobes and slippers before enjoying some TV time together and a quiet but glittering sight of the city view from our room.

The next morning, we woke up after a good night’s sleep and was starving. We headed down to Terazza Brasserie for breakfast (comes with the promotion package) around 8am and saw that breakfast was in full force with lots of guests having the same idea as us.

Breakfast spread was pretty good with lots of choices of Continental dishes to local dishes. After playing, we went back to our room for a short rest, packed up and headed down to The Emperor for a Sunday Dim Sum Brunch. Since I have mentioned earlier that the promotion package also allows kids to eat for free at this brunch, we only had to pay for the adults which was a good deal for parents with kids.

Just right outside The Emperor, there is also a Kids Corner setup especially for this Sunday brunch. At least there is something to keep the little ones busy after they had their fill of the brunch.

The Emperor Restaurant serves fine Cantonese cuisine set in an elegant Chinese inspired ambiance. Dine on the spacious main dining room or their private rooms and feast on authentic Chinese dishes such as dim sum, seafood and roast meats as well as many other dishes. The restaurant is pork free.

The Dim Sum Brunch has a special area setup for an array of delicious dim sum and other Chinese dishes along with desserts. We spied a cart of steamy dim sums that we constantly kept filled up with baskets of freshly steamed dim sum. There’s a good selection of these steamed dim sum as well as fried ones.

Feast on mouthwatering spread of Siew Mai, Steamed Crystal Prawn Dumpling, Fish Dumplings, Scallop Dumplilng, Chicken Char Siew Bao, Steamed Stuffed Mussels, Steamed Chicken Feet, Steamed Glutinous Rice, Deep Fried Cheese Prawn Roll, Fried Yam Puff, Fried Radish Cake,Oven Baked Egg Tart and more.

There is also a roast station featuring Roasted Chicken and Roasted Duck as well as hot buffet warmers filled with Fried Noodles, Stuffed Bittergourd (superb!), Wok Fried Chicken with Dried Chili & Cashews, Deep Fried Prawns with Special Sauce, Kam Heong Fish and more. And so after brunch, we checked out and took off to Kidzania with the special discounted tickets as the little one has been wanting to go there for a while. One can also opt to use the ticket for another day but our little one couldn’t wait…

It all really worked out so well. We arrived Kidzania after 1pm and there was not any queue. Once we were inside, there was a lot of kids and adults but we didn’t really have to queue too long for any of the activities.

Upon entering, our little one had to make his first stop at the bank to cash out some ‘kidZos’, which is Kidzania’s currency. Then it’s up to him to use his money to buy some goods or services at all the shops in Kidzania. Of course he can also opt to work to earn some kidZos along the way just like we adults do too…

The little one had a blast at Kidzaniathat day with his new found friend, Russell. Both of them had loads of fun with Kidzania experience in real-life role-play between playing CSI to delivering post as well as learning the ropes on working at a petrol station, designing their own vehicle, making cultivated yoghurt beverage and more.

In Kidzania, there is also a Parent Lounge where the adults can hang out for food, drinks, massage services and more while waiting for their little ones.

There’s certain plenty of things to do at Kidzaniaand this will definitely keep the little ones busy the whole day. The discounted tickets can be used another day with a period of validity.
