Job Title: Social Worker

Department: Clinical             

Reports To: Consultant (Clinical)

Location: Doha, Qatar

ROLE:

The Social Worker will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide a high standard of professional social work services to clients with a wide-range of needs characterized by substance use disorders and physical, mental health and social needs. The post-holder will ensure clients receive services that are recovery focused, strengths based, culturally competent, person-centered and trauma-informed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Undertaking and writing up assessments which meet specified standards and timescales

for clients with substance use disorders and physical, psychiatric, cognitive and socio – behavioural presentations.

Conducting interviews with clients, their families and carers to assess and review their situation.

Organizing and managing packages of support, in consultation with multidisciplinary team, to enable clients to lead the fullest lives possible.

Liaising with and making referrals to other agencies.

Participating in multidisciplinary teams and meetings regarding, for example, child protection.

Assess capacity and obtain informed consent and, where clients lack capacity to consent, to have the ability to work within a legal and ethical framework.

Promote a ‘recovery’ based approach to care.

Develop and evaluate service provision for clients.

Provide consultation to other professions, promoting the importance of self-determination to well being.

Participate in applied research, adding to the evidence base of practice in addictions and related areas.

Teach, undertake an agreed program of continuing professional development and attend conferences or seminars to increase the personal and collective understanding of mental, emotional and behavioural states or disorders.

Maintain appropriately detailed records to monitor the progress of clients’ treatments.

Assist in the recruitment of staff, talent and skills for all clinical services in conjunction with Human Resources.

Contribute to a positive work and learning environment by promoting teamwork, co-operation and harmonious relationships amongst colleagues.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS REQUIRED

University degree or equivalent.

Completion of accredited addictions core training.

Five years of recent relevant experience.

Licensed as a registered Social Worker.

Carry a differentiated caseload of complex cases and to provide a high standard of social work services to individuals and families.

Organize and manage packages of support to clients.

Advise the multidisciplinary team on the best course of action for a particular client within the scope of the role.

Inter-agency referral and liaison.

Knowledge of relevant legal frameworks.
