Audio-Visual Archivist and Reference Librarian

Job Purpose: The Pettus Archives and Dacus Library seek an innovative and engaged candidate for a position with duties in the archives and the main library. We seek an individual who is open to innovation and eager to take on the challenges of the changing library and archives environment.
Major Responsibilities:
Archives (50%)
Oversees and manages the archives Audio-Visual Collection, Oral History Project, and the Veterans’ History Project
Conducts oral history interviews and instructs and supervises student employees, interns, and other students and volunteers in oral history interview processes in the Archives.
Digitizes recordings, films, and videos and adds material to Digital Commons, the digital asset management system
Promotes the audio-visual collection
Assists Pettus Archives researchers
Assists with Pettus Archives exhibits
Participates in Pettus Archives programs and events
Reference (50%)
Provides Sunday and weekday reference service at Dacus Library
Teaches in the information literacy program
Develops research guides and other instructional materials
Participates in collection development
Serves as a liaison to academic departments
Participates in Dacus Library programs and events
Required Qualifications:
Master’s Degree from an American Library Association accredited program and at least six months of archives experience.
Desired Qualifications
Twelve or more months working as a reference librarian in an academic library
Twelve or more months working as an archivist in museum or archives
Should be familiar with standard archival practices, have training with audio-visual digitization and management programs, experience conducting oral history interviews, and experience working in archives or other workplace that documents or preserves historical information.
Work Environment: This position requires daily contact with students, faculty, and staff on campus. The candidate should also have the ability to work with the community, local schools, and other universities and local entities. The archivist / reference librarian works as a member of the library faculty and is required to serve on library and campus-wide committees.

Employment Conditions: A full-time, twelve-month non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
