Wikimedia Sweden Found Guilty of Breaking Copyright Law
According to infoDOCKET “Sweden’s highest court on Monday found Wikimedia Sweden guilty of violating copyright laws by providing free access to its database of artwork photographs without the artists’ consent.
The Visual Copyright Society in Sweden (BUS), which represents painters, photographers, illustrators and designers among others, had sued Wikimedia Sweden for making photographs of their artwork displayed in public places available in its database, without their consent…”
Total Boox & Tocker Foundation Bring Ebooks to Rural Communities in Texas
No Shelf Required reports that “Total Boox, an ebook service for readers and libraries, and the Tocker Foundation (TF), a non-profit supporting small libraries in Texas, have just announced a groundbreaking partnership: to make Total Boox’ collection of nearly 100,000 ebooks available to 20 small and rural libraries in the state. According to the press release, the long-term goal of the pilot is to empower rural libraries to serve their communities as effectively as large urban libraries and for other small and rural libraries around the country to follow suit…”

With the addition of more than 14,000 SEG maps that are easily discoverable, Geofacets provides exploration teams with an expanded range of essential geoscience information required for making accurate subsurface interpretations, increasing confidence and reducing risk associated with assessing new prospects and potential development opportunities.
NLM awards 2016-2021 Regional Medical Library cooperative agreements
KnowledgeSpeak also notes that “On April 1, 2016, the National Library of Medicine awarded five-year cooperative agreements to eight institutions to serve as Regional Medical Libraries (RMLs) and five National Coordinating Offices in the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM). The agreements begin May 1, 2016. The Network consists of the eight RMLs, five National Coordinating Offices, nearly 112 resource libraries (primarily at medical schools), over 2,200 local health science libraries (primarily at hospitals), and more than 1,300 public libraries and community-based organizations…”
