Collection Development Librarian – Western Carolina University

Western Carolina University’s Hunter Library seeks a Collection Development Librarian to play a key role in both the assessment of the Hunter Library’s collection strategies and the maintenance of the collection itself. This position will articulate the direction, balance and emphasis of all collections, as well as formulate and update policies. The Collection Development Librarian will coordinate and support the work of the liaisons to academic departments in their efforts to develop collections in their areas, and will direct the work of 1 support staff. The Collection Development Librarian analyzes collection growth, usage, material costs, expenditures, etc., in an effort to inform decisions regarding the library’s collections, to project budgetary needs, and to develop collection strategies. This position works collaboratively with library colleagues to holistically assess the library collections, to identify its strengths and weaknesses, and to create a regular collection review schedule.
