ORCID Receives $3 Million Grant From Helmsely Trust To Expand International Capacity

Helmsley Charitable Trust to develop the infrastructure and capacity to support international adoption and technical integration of ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor) identifiers, through staff expansion, regional workshops and localized member technical support…”

American Archive of Public Broadcasting Launches New Website/Database, Streaming Video Coming This Fall

Also according to InfoDOCKET  “the American Archive of Public Broadcasting (AAPB), a collaboration between the Library of Congress, WGBH Boston and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, launched a new website at americanarchive.org today, providing the public with access to a collection of American public radio and television content dating back to the 1950s.

These audio and video materials, created by more than 120 public broadcasting organizations across the country, have now been digitized and preserved, and will be a resource for scholars, researchers, educators, filmmakers and the general public to delve into the rich history of public broadcasting across America…”

BBC Launches Election and Poltical Coverage Archive

InfoDOCKET also notes that “the BBC and the University of Sussex have … unveiled a new archive site that gives the public a fascinating insight into the BBC’s coverage of elections since its inception in 1922.

The archive, which can be viewed at bbc.co.uk/historyofthebbc/elections contains a wealth of video footage – including footage of every General Election since the BBC first introduced televised coverage of elections in 1950.

Elsevier and CERN announce further OA agreement

According to KnowledgeSpeak “Elsevier and CERN have announced that articles published by CERN authors in Elsevier Physics journals that are not covered by the SCOAP3 Open Access initiative will be published open access. As part of this agreement, CERN results in fields such as nuclear physics, instrumentation, astroparticle physics and scientific computing will appear as open access articles, with copyright retained by CERN and its authors, and reuse determined by Creative Commons CC-BY licenses…”
