IFLA Posts Draft of Update to Statement of International Cataloguing Principles (ICP)
In addition, InfoDOCKET notes that the IFLA Cataloguing Section’s Working Group on ICP is inviting review of “the proposed updated text for Statement of International Cataloguing Principles (ICP) before final approval and publication by IFLA.
The principles intend to guide the development of cataloguing codes and the decisions that cataloguers make. They apply to bibliographic and authority data, and consequently to current library catalogues, bibliographies and other datasets created by libraries. They aim to provide a consistent approach to descriptive and subject cataloguing of bibliographic resources of all kinds…”

According to this press release from the Association of American Publishers “a coalition of leading publisher and author associations today commended the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the Treasury Department for an amendment to the Syrian Sanctions Regulations permitting the publishing and marketing of manuscripts, books, journals, and newspapers from the war-torn nation under a general license.

Research Information reports that “Columbia University Press and De Gruyter have announced a global distribution partnership for ebook content. De Gruyter will electronically distribute a selection of current Columbia University Press publications and an extensive backlist of more than 1,000 ebooks.
Furthermore, in a joint digitalisation project, more than 3,000 out-of-print titles will be made available as ebooks and hardcover reprints…”
