The Carrboro Film Festival is November 22-23, 2014, and you don’t want to miss it! Where else can you see 46 great films in two days for just $20?
The 9th Annual Carrboro Film Festival runs from Saturday, November 22, 2014 from 10:00 am – 11:30 pm and Sunday, November 23, 2014 from 1:00 pm – 7:30 pm at the Century Center, 100 North Greensboro Street, Carrboro, North Carolina. Tickets are $15.00 for a one-day pass (Saturday or Sunday), and just $20.00 for a weekend pass. Kids 12 and under are FREE all weekend long, and do not require a ticket for entry. Click here to purchase tickets online. Tickets will also be available at the door, but space is limited, so I suggest buying them online, which is actually a few cents cheaper.
The festival is organized into seven blocks over the two days, with Q&A sessions with filmmakers during the blocks. This year’s special features include free workshops, live music, featured filmmaker John Kasbe, $1 popcorn, and a Horror Block on Saturday night from 9:00 pm – 11:30 pm that is reserved for more mature audiences, so be sure to take the little ones home by then. Feel free to come and go as you please, seeing just a few films or all forty-six if you have a weekend pass. This is no longer a short-film festival, so movie durations vary from short to full-length feature films. At 7:30 pm on Sunday evening, the awards ceremony begins, featuring awards designed by local sculptor Mike Roig. Then there is an after party at The Open Eye Café, and everyone is invited!
This year’s festival includes documentaries, narratives, animations and one music video, encompassing themes of drama, comedy, romance and horror. They have all been scrupulously selected by the wonderful and talented Carrboro Film Festival Committee of Nic Beery, Susan Siplon, Jackie Helvey, Angus McKeller, Brad Herring, Pat Dillon, Scott Conary, Alison Weiner, Rah Trost, and myself Nancy Largent. The films selected this year are some of the best ones yet, and I personally guarantee there is something for everyone in this year’s line-up. Besides being an entertaining way to spend an autumn weekend, it just might inspire you to make a film of your own to submit to the festival next year!
