SINGAPORE: Brilio.net was announced the silver winner for Best Website by a Media Owner and bronze winner for Best Media Solution (Social media) at the third edition of The Spark Awards for Media Excellence 2016, held at the Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.

Brilio.net officially launched on Mar 18, 2015, and reached 1.5 million page views in its first month. It then grew rapidly to 30 million page views by June 2015.

It also recorded 7.4 million unique visitors up to June that year, a number that almost doubled to 12 million by May 2016. Readers spent an average of four minutes on the website. This performance earned the company its silver medal.

The bronze for Best Media Solutions-Social Media category came through the "29 Hari Bikin Iri" (29-Day Couples Challenge) Instagram campaign. It was run to coincide with Valentine’s Day this year.

The initiative aimed to both increase Brilio's IG followers and broaden its brand recognition through viral content and social media activity. It targeted millennial couples aged 18-34.

"We wouldn't have been able to get to this point without the strong effort and support of everyone in Brilio, including our advisors and investors in KLN and Mediacorp, these awards are for all of them," said Wadakethalakal.

Singapore-based media company Mediacorp has a 52 per cent equity stake in KapanLagi Network (KLN), a digital media company in Indonesia and the parent company of Brilio.

Brilio co-founders Joe Wadakethalakal (L) and Danny Purnomo (R) receive The Spark awards at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore.

“I'm so incredibly proud of the team for winning these two awards. Gaining recognition in this way so soon after launching Brilio was completely unexpected but I'm so glad that it happened because it helps validate our mission and shows that we're on the right track,” said Brilio CEO Joe Wadakethalakal.

Co-founders Joe Wadakethalakal and Danny Purnomo accepted the awards.

Organized by Marketing magazine, The Spark Awards celebrates best practices in media solutions, products and services.
