ISLAMABAD: The Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) in partnership with Alif Ailaan and Academy of Educational Planning and Management (AEPAM) would launch the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings 2015 on Thursday.
Alif Ailaan published the first ever district level rankings in the year 2013 to monitor the quality of education across Pakistan. These rankings used publicly available data on key education indicators to develop a ranking of 144 of the country’s 145 districts. The second edition of the rankings was launched in May 2014.
Two years on, the 2015 edition of the Alif Ailaan Pakistan District Education Rankings tracks progress in the quality of education across 148 districts of the country. By comparing the performance of districts in two categories – learning outcomes and the state of infrastructure facilities, the rankings enable politicians, policy makers, education providers, academics, the media and citizens to better understand education issues at the local level.
The objective is to inform the political debate around education in Pakistan, foster a competitive spirit in public-sector education delivery and encourage transparency in the management of education.
