Hyderabad, 27 March 2016: TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Hyderabad Chapter today organized   SmashUP an instant seed funding event for the start-up companies at city hotel. The event witnessed participation from Startups in both Technical and Non-technical sectors.

The event received an overwhelming support from the start-up community wherein 12 most promising Startups out of 103 applicants got an opportunity to pitch to the angel investors. The event witnessed participation from various venture funds that includes Unitus Seed Fund, 50K Ventures, Anthill Ventures, Saha Fund, Indian Angel Network, Hyderabad Angels, Parampara fund and many individual investors/angels.

Talking on the occasion, Suresh Challa, President – TiE Hyderabad Chapter said, “TiE’s mission is to foster entrepreneurship globally through mentoring, networking, and education. TiE’s focus is on generating and nurturing our next generation of entrepreneurs. He added that  the participating Startups have been mentored in a boot camp by successful entrepreneurs”.

Commenting on the occasion, Shree kumar, CEO, Woxsen school of Business said, “At Woxsen we have always believed in creating and nurturing a successful entrepreneurial ecosystem.  We have taken a small step in that direction by way of supporting TiE Hyderabad by sponsoring  this event”.

Event culminated with Instant seed funding of  INR  20  Lakhs to each company

SmashUp 2016 also witnessed a panel discussion on the theme StartUp India – What’s in it for StartUps in India that aligns with our Prime Minister’s ambitious “Startup India Movement”.

Prominent personalities of the Hyderabad Startup ecosystem Sateesh Andra (Managing Director Endiya Partners and Managing Partner VentureEast Tenet Fund), Jay Krishnan (CEO T-Hub), Vineel Nalla (President & CEO NBOs Technologies), Shree Kumar (CEO, Woxsen School of Management) Rakesh Bhatia (Charter Member of TiE, Startup Advisor- Investor-Mentor), and Ch.Prashanth Reddy (Resident Editor The Hindu – Telangana) deliberated as part of the panel discussion.
