Singer, actor and TV presenter, Diljit Dosanjh was born in a small village, Kishanpur in Jalandhar district of Punjab. He is already a well-known figure in Punjabi music industry and is all set to share the silver screen with Bollywood’s heartthrob Kareena kapoor. The film in making is Udta Punjab, directed by Abhishek Chaubey and also features Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Diljit (31) has many blockbusters to his credit including Jinhe Mera Dil Luteya, 1984 Punjab and Jatt & Juliet, Sardarji among others. The locations for the film are being finalized. Udta Punjab is a thriller that showcases drug-related problems in Punjab. It has taken a research of four years to find out facts and issues.

“In the film, I play a Punjab Police cop. I have played a policeman earlier as well in my films but this time the part is very real. There are no tight clothes, no body at display. Abhishek sir has done a research of 3 to 4 years. I did not have to do anything at all. He just asked me to act the way I felt,” Diljit told the sources. Diljit, who made his acting debut in 2011 with ‘The Lion of Punjab’, says that working opposite Kareena is a dream come true.

Meanwhile Actress Anushka Sharma is also co-producing a film with Fox Star Studios that features Diljit along with Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi fame). This flick titled Phillauri is being projected as an uncommon romantic story set in Phillaur, Punjab. It will be directed by debutant Anshai Lal.

“Phillauri has a unique premise. It took almost 100 years, a crazy Punjabi wedding and rank strangers to complete this love story, and that’s the crux of the film,” said Sharma. “Anushka Sharma is a phenomenal actress and has proven that she is a producer par excellence with her brave first film. We are thrilled to be working with her,” said Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios. Phillauri goes on floors in April this year.

Diljit Dosanjh is gearing up for his next release, ‘Ambarsariya’ on April 25th, where he will be seen opposite Lauren Gottlieb, His outstanding comic timing, first-rate dialogue delivery and electrifying screen presence will leave you astonished. The film also stars Navneet Dhillon, Gul Panag and Gurpreet Ghuggi in pivotal roles.
